Bookkeeping Consultant

Overview

This part-time, hourly W-2 Bookkeeping Consultant role provides flexible, project-based support for clients’ day-to-day financial operations as needs arise. Work hours will vary based on client demand and engagement requirements.

The position is based in Columbus, OH, and may require onsite work and travel to client locations depending on engagement needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and maintain core bookkeeping functions for clients, including:
  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • Reconciliations
• Implement bookkeeping best practices and maintain accuracy when recording transactions, processing information, and reconciling accounts
• Identify and implement business process improvements for clients
• Develop thorough documentation and deliverables
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent job experience
• Seven-plus years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting
• In-depth understanding of core bookkeeping functions (accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations)
• Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with accounting software, such as QuickBooks
• Comfort asking questions to get answers and the ability to adapt to new and changing technology and software
• Ability to make progress on ill-defined or unclear projects, take direction, and apply it across different situations
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality client service
