Overview
This role involves serving as a Business Systems Analyst responsible for bridging business needs with technical solutions. The position focuses on gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements, facilitating communication among stakeholders, collaborating on solution design, writing technical specifications, modeling business processes, and supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of systems and processes to enhance the user experience within the application ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Lead elicitation and prioritization of complex business and technical requirements for both incremental improvements and transformational change initiatives
- Conduct system analysis, including writing functional and technical specifications
- Collaborate on systems design and architecture, including user interface design, prototyping, data modeling, and solution configuration
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive view of current state processes, systems, and performance metrics within assigned departments; proactively identify inefficiencies, risks, and improvement opportunities
- Serve as a trusted partner and strategic advisor to senior leaders within assigned departments by understanding organizational goals and contributing to operational initiatives
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of process improvements, automation, and IT solutions within finance operations
- Ensure data integrity across financial systems, ensuring accurate data flow, integration, and compliance with accounting principles
- Act as the functional product owner (Finance) and strategic advisor, working with senior stakeholders to drive application/technology solutions and related business processes
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging financial technologies to recommend best practices and innovative solutions
- Oversee documentation and continuous improvement of complex business processes, ensuring solutions meet stakeholder needs and align with enterprise standards and compliance requirements
- Coordinate training activities with business partners to guide proper system usage
- Support project delivery by assisting with scope definition, milestone tracking, and risk mitigation strategies
- Identify and champion opportunities for process and system optimization using data-driven insights and industry best practices
- Partner with IT and business leadership to shape and prioritize the organizational roadmap, aligning business analysis efforts with strategic objectives
- Provide consulting services to business partners to foster innovation and identify new opportunities to maintain a competitive edge
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or relevant experience
- Solid technical knowledge of application systems and processes, including Salesforce, Zuora billing, Certinia, or other core financial applications
- Understanding of key finance and accounting business processes such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, and Collections
- Experience in systems architecture, workflow design, and writing technical specifications
- Knowledge of agile best practices for requirements gathering and process mapping

Preferred Qualifications
- Prior consulting experience
- Familiarity with SQL and/or PowerBI
- IIBA or PMI-PBA certification
