Overview

This freelance opportunity is for an Accounting Industry Strategy Expert to contribute to the development of a commercial B2B learning solution tailored for early-career CPAs. The project focuses on immersive, technology-enabled training designed to improve talent readiness and retention within accounting firms.

Contract Details

• Type: Freelance (1099)
• Duration: 11 weeks
• Time Commitment: Up to 3 hours per week (~25-30 hours total)
• Hourly Rate: $125/hour
• Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial and strategic guidance to ensure the learning journey addresses real-world challenges faced by accounting firms, including workload pressures, early-career engagement, professional success behaviors, and CPA talent shortages.
• Actively participate in virtual CoDesign workshops to brainstorm immersive simulation scenarios that reflect the modern accounting environment.
• Help align the solution’s value proposition to effectively shorten time to productivity and accelerate competency attainment in public accounting.
• Collaborate with learning experience design, creative, engineering teams, and client stakeholders.
• Participate in developing a Proof of Concept.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in public accounting with a strong understanding of operational and talent management challenges related to junior staff.
• Ability to represent both tax and audit perspectives at entry- to senior-staff levels.
• Enthusiasm for the evolution of the accounting profession and emerging learning technologies such as AI and simulations.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, collaborative, and ambiguous environment.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and align with executive-level stakeholders.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Must be technically savvy with reliable internet access and comfortable using virtual communication tools.

Time Commitment Details

• Approximately 25-30 hours over multiple weeks.
• Up to seven virtual CoDesign sessions lasting 2-3 hours each.
• 30-minute debrief sessions following each CoDesign session.
