Overview
This role builds the financial operating system for the organization’s next stage of growth. The CFO will serve as the CEO’s principal financial thought partner and a core member of the executive leadership team, with significant influence over capital allocation, acquisition integration, operating accountability, systems, talent, and the path to materially greater scale.
The mandate requires experience leading finance through rapid acquisition-led scaling, including hands-on finance infrastructure build-out, while developing the team, systems, and processes the business will need going forward.
Responsibilities
- Strategy & decision support: Translate strategy into capital, liquidity, investment, return, and operating requirements; frame tradeoffs and quantify risk and opportunity cost; deliver analysis early enough to shape decisions.
- FP&A & operating insight: Own annual planning, rolling forecasts, long-range planning, management reporting, center benchmarking, variance analysis, and KPI architecture. Build an integrated model linking center-level drivers, same-store performance, acquisition cadence, overhead, working capital, debt, covenants, and liquidity to identify issues early enough for operator action.
- Accounting & controls: Build a reliable close and reporting cadence and own financial-statement integrity, accounting policy, audit, tax, multi-entity consolidation, purchase accounting, and internal controls. Develop a team that executes accurately while enabling CFO-level review and judgment.
- Treasury & capital structure: Own cash forecasting, working capital, debt capacity, covenant compliance, banking, treasury, and lender relationships. Maintain sufficient liquidity and covenant headroom to support the acquisition plan and provide clear capital-allocation choices to the CEO and Board.
- M&A finance & integration: Partner with M&A on transaction finance and own post-close financial handoff through a repeatable Day 1 / 30 / 60 / 90 playbook, including opening balance sheets, purchase accounting, banking, chart-of-accounts mapping, systems, close integration, and controls. Track actual performance against acquisition underwriting.
- Board, lender & investor credibility: Own the quality of the numbers, forecasts, and analysis behind external stakeholder relationships. Surface issues early, communicate uncertainty clearly, and defend conclusions using command of underlying economics.
- Finance team, systems & data: Design the Finance organization, recruit and develop leaders, and establish clear ownership across accounting, FP&A, treasury, acquisition accounting, and systems. Lead the transition from current financial systems to a scalable ERP and reporting architecture, with strong data integrity, automation, and controls. Oversee the company’s managed service provider and key technology vendors, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, data protection, and business continuity, until dedicated internal technology leadership is established.
- Risk & stewardship: Own the financial dimensions of enterprise risk, including tax, insurance and risk financing, fraud and disbursement controls, financial compliance, and concentration and covenant risk. Use specialized outside advisors where appropriate while retaining accountability.
Requirements (Ideal Background)
- CFO/divisional CFO/senior finance leadership experience in a rapidly scaling multi-site operating company, preferably in a private-equity-backed, founder-led, or similarly high-growth environment.
- Acquisition-led growth experience with repeated post-close integration across multiple entities, locations, and systems.
- Hands-on build experience upgrading accounting and FP&A organizations as complexity increased.
- Strong capability in integrated financial modeling, forecasting, scenario analysis, unit economics, working capital, debt and covenant analysis, and capital allocation.
- Demonstrated command of GAAP, close, multi-entity consolidation, audit, purchase accounting, and financial controls, paired with sound judgment on the use of specialist expertise.
- Direct experience with liquidity planning, debt facilities, lender relationships, and financing execution.
- Experience preparing and defending Board-level forecasts, operating analysis, and capital-allocation recommendations.
- Experience leading an ERP or meaningful finance-systems implementation and designing scalable data and reporting architecture.
- Evidence of translating financial insight into operating action and measurable improvement, including direct engagement at the facility or business-unit level.
- Evidence of recruiting, teaching, and developing high-performing finance talent, along with intellectual curiosity to keep learning the business as it scales.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $300,000.00–$400,00.00
- Incentives: Performance-based cash incentive
- Long-term equity: Meaningful long-term equity participation; additional co-investment opportunity may be available
- Benefits: 401(k) with matching; health, dental, vision, and life insurance; short- and long-term disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays
Location & Travel
The organization operates a distributed multi-state platform. Willingness to travel to operating locations, lenders, Board meetings, and integration projects on an as-needed basis is expected, particularly during periods of active integration.
Reporting Structure
The CFO will report to the CEO & Co-Founder and work closely with the COO, VP of M&A, operating leadership, and the Board. The existing Finance organization is lean, creating an immediate opportunity to shape the function, build the team, and establish the processes and systems required for the next stage.
