Controller

Overview

This is a fully remote Controller role with responsibility for overseeing all accounting and financial operations, including managing the books, monthly close, audit processes, and financial controls. The position also focuses on improving accuracy and efficiency by integrating AI tools into finance—automating high-volume recurring transactions and enhancing financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operational and reporting accounting, maintaining the general ledger and financial records.
• Manage the monthly close process, including account reconciliations and consolidation.
• Supervise invoicing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable to maintain schedules and control aged payables.
• Administer partner revenue share calculations, sales commissions, and performance-based payouts, collaborating with HR.
• Design, implement, and monitor financial policies, processes, and controls to ensure audit readiness and compliance.
• Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and complete the annual audit on schedule.
• Collaborate with management on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Coordinate cross-functional workflows with Sales, Professional Services, and Legal to ensure accurate order-to-cash processes.
• Lead implementation and continuous improvement of accounting systems and tools.
• Identify and automate repetitive workflows using AI, including reconciliations, journal entries, and revenue share workpapers.
• Use AI to enhance transaction review, flag anomalies, and reduce audit issues.
• Use AI to accelerate reporting and draft financial summaries for review.
• Establish governance frameworks for AI use in finance, ensuring compliance with privacy and audit requirements.
• Train finance and partner teams on AI tools, tracking efficiency and accuracy improvements.

Requirements

• Over 10 years of relevant accounting experience.
• At least 3 years as Controller or equivalent Assistant Controller experience in a medium to large company.
• Experience managing accounting for high-volume, recurring-revenue businesses, preferably in SaaS or fintech.
• Proven success in efficient close processes and systems-based automation.
• Practical experience or aptitude for applying AI in accounting or finance.
• Strong skills in QuickBooks and Excel; familiarity with Salesforce, Ramp, or similar tools is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
• CPA, public accounting, or FP&A experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Compensation & Benefits

• Remote pay range: $145,000—$165,000 USD
