Corporate Controller

Overview

A fast-growing financial technology organization is seeking an experienced accounting professional to help build and scale its accounting operations. The company provides a unified financial platform offering corporate cards, cross-border payments, and spend management software to global businesses across more than 20 countries. Serving over 5,000 clients ranging from startups to SMBs, the organization is expanding its finance team to support continued growth.

This is a full-time remote position reporting to the VP of Finance. The role involves hands-on accounting responsibilities as well as strategic process development and collaboration with international teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage the month-end close and reporting process to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Consolidate group financial statements, prepare disclosures, and perform periodic financial analysis
• Conduct technical accounting research and document new policies and procedures
• Collaborate with entity controllers domestically and internationally to support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Assist product teams in developing features that improve accounting functionality for internal and client use
• Oversee daily accounting operations with a focus on process improvements and automation
• Assist in designing internal controls and accounting policies
• Coordinate with external tax and technical accounting advisory firms on various matters
• Manage the year-end financial audit, working directly with auditors to ensure a smooth and timely process
• Support the finance team with special projects, ad-hoc reporting, and analysis as needed

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience in public accounting at a Big 4 or top national firm
• At least 4 years of experience working within a multinational group comprising multiple entities
• Minimum 2 years of experience managing direct reports
• Proven ownership of the month-end close process
• Experience developing, documenting, and implementing cross-functional accounting processes
• Prior experience preparing financial statements for public companies
• Strong understanding of business environments and ability to apply accounting principles pragmatically
• Creative problem-solving skills for complex accounting processes
• Ability to collaborate effectively with international teams
• CPA certification and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with strong US GAAP knowledge; MBA preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency in SQL and Macros is a plus
• Experience with Sage accounting software is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Fluent in English
• Agile and adaptable to a fast-changing environment
