Overview
This role involves performing commercial credit processes and controls for the central credit utility. The work supports risk and commercial business activities as required, including independently spreading commercial customer and prospect financial statements for credit decisioning and risk evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Independently spread a variety of commercial customer and prospect financial statements of medium to high complexity in accordance with published guidelines to ensure consistency and accuracy across lines of business, industries, and regions.
- Communicate with portfolio managers and relationship managers, applying knowledge of accounting and basic credit underwriting principles that inform spreading guidelines, financial reporting requirements, and financial covenants.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of industry-specific nuances and how they impact financial reporting and probability of default ratings; serve as a subject matter expert for the team.
- Assist with monitoring and assessing risk associated with the central credit utility’s loan portfolio by executing assigned reviews and renewals in accordance with department procedures and Commercial Credit Policy.
- Support special projects, portfolio manager administrative tasks, and central credit utility leadership as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics preferred or commensurate experience.
- 2+ years of commercial credit or equivalent experience.
- Experience spreading financial statements, including:
- commercial & industrial
- personal financial statements
- individual tax returns
- commercial real estate
- governmental & institutional
- dealer floor plan
- not-for-profit and specialty types such as NFP Hospitals
- structured finance
- publicly traded
- international
- energy
- restaurants
- Proficiency in basic software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency at multitasking.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of internal applications such as CCAS, ACE, and AFS, and vendor-supported systems such as Moody’s Risk Analyst and Crowe Navigator is preferred.

- Working knowledge of internal applications and vendor-supported systems (including CCAS, ACE, AFS, Moody’s Risk Analyst, and Crowe Navigator).
Compensation & Benefits
Total Base Pay Range: $61,200.00 - $125,500.00 USD Annual
- Base salary reflects the pay grade range for the position across the U.S.; individual salaries vary based on role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education, and geographic location.
- Eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan; payments, if any, are based on company, line of business and/or individual performance.
