Overview
This organization is seeking a mid-level Data Analyst who goes beyond report building. In this role, you will own the truth behind revenue and forecasting for an e-commerce business, partnering closely with Finance to translate raw transaction and payment processor data into reporting and forecasts Finance can trust.
Responsibilities

- Track forecast vs. actual performance, explain gaps, and flag meaningful misses to Finance
- Update scenarios and assumptions used for budget planning
Financial Reporting & Unit Economics
- Build and maintain P&L reporting covering revenue, gross vs. net sales, discounts, refunds, COGS, and contribution margin by brand, channel, and product
- Report unit economics including contribution margin, payback, and profitability by brand, channel, and product
- Support month-end close with timely, tied-out data
- Produce variance reporting that explains what moved and why (budget vs. actual)
Financial Data Integrity & Reconciliation
- Lead investigations into revenue discrepancies by reconciling data across payment processors (Stripe, Shopify Payments, Amazon), bank deposits, internal databases, and accounting (QuickBooks)
- Reconcile marketing spend across ad platforms and invoices against finance records
- Partner with Finance and the Data Engineer to fix discrepancies at the source
- Document business logic behind financial metrics so teams use consistent definitions
Data Transformation & Visualization
- Handle “last mile” data preparation using KNIME or dbt (or similar tools such as Alteryx or Python/Pandas)
- Write efficient SQL to transform raw transaction data in Snowflake into datasets reflecting financial business rules
- Design, build, and maintain dashboards in Sigma for Finance and leadership
Requirements
- 2–3 years of specific data analysis experience, ideally supporting finance (hands-on mid-level executor; not looking for Junior Analysts or Senior Data Architects)
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining financial forecasts (e.g., revenue, orders, or expenses) using SQL, spreadsheets, or a BI tool (required)
- Strong financial acumen, including comfort with revenue recognition, COGS, gross vs. net sales, and contribution margin
- Proven DTC e-commerce experience required, with comfort working with Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, and Stripe data
- Strong proficiency with Snowflake (SQL) and Sigma (open to candidates experienced with Tableau, Looker, or Power BI who can adapt quickly)
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills
- KNIME or dbt preferred (open to candidates experienced with Alteryx or Python who can adapt quickly)
- Awareness of ELT tooling (e.g., Hevo, Fivetran, Airbyte, Azure) and ability to communicate effectively with a Data Engineer
Preferred Qualifications

- Understanding of QuickBooks report structures
