Overview

This role serves as the connective tissue of the finance organization and the directly responsible individual (DRI) for cross-functional programs that align finance with the rest of the business. The position focuses on process, technology, and organizational alignment—not forecasting or accounting.

You will lead outcomes end-to-end when the organization needs to stand up or integrate initiatives such as quote-to-cash, build a customer data cube, redesign planning calendar processes, or integrate an acquisition’s finance stack. Work will involve senior leaders and requires structured program execution, clear decision-making, and adoption of AI/automation in finance operations.

Responsibilities

  • Own cross-functional finance programs end-to-end
    • Serve as DRI for multi-team initiatives spanning finance, revenue operations, engineering, legal, people, and product (e.g., quote-to-cash, customer and contract data cube, planning-to-close handoffs, M&A finance integration).
    • Define scope, success criteria, sequencing, and overall ownership of outcomes.
  • Delegate without losing accountability
    • Break programs into workstreams, assign owners across the organization, run program cadence, and unblock stalled work.
    • Maintain a complete view of progress and risks even when not executing every task.
  • Build strategic alignment with the business
    • Translate between finance and operators to align definitions, owners, and timelines across departments (sales, product, engineering, and corporate leadership).
    • Ensure finance processes reflect how the business actually operates.
  • Operate in a high-visibility seat
    • Brief executives directly and provide clear framing of decisions required.
    • Represent finance on the programs you own.
    • Core stakeholders include the Head of FP&A, Head of Finance, Chief Legal & Corporate Officer, and CEO.
  • Design processes and the systems behind them
    • Map current-state processes, design future state, and partner with Business Systems, Engineering, and vendors.
    • Own finance-side requirements and acceptance for tools across the stack (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce, planning platforms, data warehouse, internal tooling).
  • Take on ambiguous, high-priority projects and drive them to completion
    • Structure, staff, and finish work through disciplined execution.
  • Drive AI and automation into finance processes
    • Identify where LLM and automation tools remove manual steps, pilot solutions, and institutionalize what works.
    • Partner with the AI & Technology Finance lead on standards and governance.
  • Prepare the finance organization for scale
    • Document processes, controls, and ownership to support growth toward IPO-readiness without linear headcount growth.

How you’ll spend your time

  • Day-to-day
    • Run program standups and workstream check-ins; unblock owners.
    • Draft requirements, decision memos, and process maps.
    • Field cross-functional questions that don’t have an obvious home in finance.
  • Week-to-week
    • Lead steering meetings with program stakeholders.
    • Provide status and risk updates to finance leadership.
    • Coordinate alignment sessions with RevOps, Business Systems, Engineering, Legal, and People.
    • Review in-flight system changes and their finance impact.
  • Month-to-month
    • Conduct program milestone reviews.
    • Run retrospectives on close and forecast cycles and recommend process fixes.
    • Update operating rhythm (calendar, OKR progress, decision log).
    • Report on AI/automation pilot results.
  • Quarterly & annual
    • Launch and land major programs.
    • Refresh finance process and systems roadmap.
    • Coordinate the annual planning calendar across finance and the business.
    • Prepare finance-org readiness assessments (controls, documentation, audit, IPO).

Requirements

  • 8+ years across FP&A, strategic finance, business operations, finance transformation, consulting, and/or chief-of-staff roles in a high-growth, unstructured environment.
  • Proven track record as the DRI on large cross-functional programs (e.g., quote-to-cash, ERP or planning-platform implementations, data warehouse or reporting builds, M&A integration) with completion driven through teams not directly reporting to you.
  • Strong process orientation: map current state, define future state, assign owners, and establish cadence.
  • Fluency across the finance stack and enabling business systems (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce, planning platforms such as Pigment/Anaplan/Adaptive, data warehouses, internal tooling). Ability to write requirements and acceptance criteria for engineers and vendors.
  • Finance and accounting literacy sufficient to understand close, forecast, revenue recognition, and board-deck needs from a process standpoint.
  • Hands-on LLM literacy (e.g., Claude Cowork & Code) and a point of view on applying AI to finance operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication:
    • Run steering meetings with VPs.
    • Write one-page decision memos.
    • Brief senior leadership clearly and concisely.
  • Low ego, high ownership: comfortable being accountable for outcomes you don’t fully control.
  • Familiarity with SQL and low/no-code dashboarding tools (e.g., Retool, Looker) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with healthcare SaaS, pre-IPO environments, M&A integration, and/or program management certification (PMP, Lean/Six Sigma) is a plus.
