Overview

The organization is seeking a strategic, results-driven Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead corporate budgeting, financial forecasting, and strategic decision-support functions. This role serves as a key financial advisor to the Chief Financial Officer, shaping the annual budget process, long-range planning models, and unit economics analyses.

This position bridges quantitative financial modeling with business partnership—translating operational metrics into strategic recommendations that drive profitability, revenue growth, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Annual Budgeting

  • Lead the budgeting process, quarterly forecasting, and multi-year strategic financial planning across all departments and business units.
  • Design, build, and maintain dynamic financial models (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow) to evaluate business performance under various growth scenarios.
  • Establish standard budget submission templates, target benchmarks, and variance tracking mechanisms for department heads.

Executive Reporting & Decision Support

  • Deliver monthly executive variance reports and KPI dashboards for senior leadership.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to evaluate major business initiatives, pricing strategies, product launches, headcount requests, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Serve as a strategic finance partner to department leaders (Marketing, Sales, Operations, HR), providing actionable data to optimize spending and return on investment (ROI).

Operational & Financial Analysis

  • Track key financial metrics (e.g., CAC, LTV, gross margin, burn rate, operating leverage) and highlight emerging trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Evaluate cost structure optimization opportunities and recommend continuous process improvements across operational workflows.
  • Collaborate with accounting teams to ensure accurate month-end closing procedures, financial reporting alignment, and revenue recognition compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or strategic finance.
  • Will consider candidates with 3–5 years of experience aiming to progress to the next level.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced financial modeling expertise in Excel and FP&A enterprise platforms (Adaptive Planning, Anaplan, Planful, Vena).
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Workday, Oracle) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Understanding of GAAP accounting principles and three-statement financial modeling.

Soft Skills

  • Executive presence with proven ability to communicate financial data clearly to non-financial executives and board members.
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven leadership record mentoring talent and managing multiple cross-functional priorities.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary of $140,000, commensurate with experience and location.
  • Fully remote work environment.
  • Unlimited PTO.
  • $100 Wellness Reimbursement Program.
  • 401(k) with a 3% employer Safe Harbor contribution.
  • Quarterly professional development and training stipend.
  • 100% employer-paid health insurance for employees (employee-only coverage).

Location

  • Fully remote.

Interview Process

  • Resume Review: Applications and resumes are reviewed by the Talent Acquisition team.
  • One Way Interview: Selected candidates will receive a link to answer a short set of questions by video. Plan to record responses in a typical work-from-home environment, ensuring it is well-lit and free of distractions.
  • Live Interview: Candidates who move forward will meet with Talent Acquisition and the Hiring Manager for a live Zoom interview to discuss experience, role expectations, and team fit.
