Overview
This role is part of the organization’s core FP&A organization and focuses on mergers & acquisitions (M&A) alongside ongoing financial planning responsibilities. The position owns M&A financial modeling, financial due diligence, and post-merger financial tracking that support acquisition decisions and account for deal value.
When deal activity is active, primary responsibilities include deal modeling, financial diligence, and integration tracking. When the pipeline is quieter, the role supports annual operating plan, monthly forecasting and tracking, and business-partner reporting owned by the broader FP&A team.
Responsibilities
Lead and Own M&A Financial Modeling & Deal Evaluation
- Build and maintain M&A models, including operating models, pro forma P&Ls, accretion/dilution, returns analysis, and synergy sizing to support deal evaluation and negotiation.
- Partner with Corporate Development, functional leaders, and executive leadership to stress-test deal assumptions, financing scenarios, and valuation ranges.
- Present financial analysis and recommendations to the CFO, executive team, and the Board on prospective acquisitions.
Own Financial Due Diligence
- Lead financial due diligence workstreams on target companies, including quality of earnings, working capital, and revenue recognition review in coordination with external advisors.
- Validate target financial statements, forecasts, and key assumptions underpinning the deal thesis.
- Identify financial risks and deal considerations, including integration expenses, and support negotiation of post-close adjustments such as purchase price true-ups.
Drive Post-Merger Financial Tracking & Synergy Realization
- Design and maintain post-merger financial tracking frameworks to monitor actual performance against the deal model and synergy targets.
- Partner with the Integration Management Office, FP&A, and functional leaders to track cost and revenue synergies, one-time integration costs, and deal ROI.
- Deliver regular reporting to executives and the Board on integration financial performance, variances, and corrective actions.
Build Scalable FP&A Infrastructure for M&A
- Establish standardized templates, KPIs, and dashboards for deal evaluation and post-close financial tracking across a growing acquisition portfolio.
- Integrate acquired companies’ financials into consolidated forecasting, budgeting, and management reporting.
- Partner with Accounting on purchase accounting, opening balance sheets, and chart-of-accounts integration.
Support Core FP&A: Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the broader FP&A team’s recurring workload between deals, including the annual operating plan, monthly forecasting and tracking, and reporting; track actuals against plan and identify key variance drivers.
- Build and maintain financial models to support planning, scenario analysis, and strategic decision-making for the core business and strategic partnerships.
- Prepare monthly variance analyses and executive-ready reporting packages, analyzing revenue, headcount costs, and operating expenses to provide actionable recommendations to business partners.
- Partner with the Accounting team on accruals and reconciliations as part of the month-end close process.
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and strategic projects as requested by FP&A leadership, flexing capacity to wherever business needs are greatest.
Partner Across the Organization
- Serve as the key FP&A partner to Corporate Development, Accounting, Legal, and other functional leaders throughout the deal lifecycle.
- Provide a financial perspective on strategic and integration decisions, ensuring alignment with the deal thesis and enterprise financial goals.
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive FP&A, investment banking, corporate development, or transaction advisory experience in enterprise software, including 5+ years directly supporting M&A financial modeling and diligence in enterprise software.
- Demonstrated experience tracking and reporting on post-merger financial performance and synergy realization.
- Solid grounding in core FP&A fundamentals, including annual operating plans, monthly reforecasting, variance analysis, and headcount/opex reporting; gained in a corporate finance or FP&A seat, not deal work alone.

- Strong grasp of SaaS software finance and accounting, purchase accounting, GAAP, and deal structuring concepts.
- Ability to move between deal-driven analysis and standard budgeting/forecasting cadences as business priorities shift.
- Excellent communication skills; comfortable presenting complex financial analysis to executives and the Board.
- Ability to manage multiple live deals, integrations, and core planning deliverables concurrently with composure under time pressure.
