Overview

This role is part of a growing finance organization designed to provide embedded finance support within each business division. As Director, Operational Finance, you will serve as the embedded finance partner to a division’s CEO and leadership team—owning the division’s numbers, helping leaders make better decisions using those insights, and ensuring divisional activity is reflected accurately in company-wide planning.

You will report to the SVP of Finance, with a dotted-line relationship to your division’s CEO and the Head of FP&A. The position is an individual contributor role with significant visibility and a clear path for growth.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with divisional leadership: Act as the primary corporate finance and financial operations contact for your assigned division, working closely with the division CEO and executive team.
  • Drive consistency across divisions: Translate corporate FP&A reporting standards into division execution so metrics and definitions (e.g., bookings standardization, ARR-related metrics, and margin expansion) are applied consistently across divisions.
  • Shape the plan: Incorporate divisional context, assumptions, and priorities into the annual budget process run by Corporate Finance and keep the division aligned with company-wide planning cycles.
  • Assist with forecasting: Support divisional leadership with forecasting updates, performance tracking, and operational improvement; function as a financial chief of staff to the division CEO while staying aligned to Corporate Finance and overall company goals.
  • Flag risks early: Identify and escalate critical items, risks, and variances across bookings, retention, and costs to divisional leadership and the central FP&A organization; support resolution efforts.
  • Find efficiencies: Identify and drive operational efficiencies and develop topline cost-savings and upside opportunities with divisional leaders.
  • Own adjustment tracking: Track below-the-line (BTL) adjustment realization for your division and report progress to Corporate Finance to support lender and board reporting.
  • Support the close and reporting cycle: Provide divisional inputs to the monthly and quarterly close, perform variance analysis, and prepare divisional commentary for management and board reporting; deliver ad hoc analysis as needed.
  • Partner across the organization: Collaborate with shared services partners such as Deal Desk, Operations, AR, Sales Operations, and Sales Compensation to move the division forward and reduce friction.
  • Support M&A: Lead synergy identification and tracking for acquisitions that land in your division, and provide divisional input to Corporate Finance on diligence and integration into company financials.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in FP&A, business finance, or finance partnering, including time in a SaaS business.
  • Strong working knowledge of SaaS metrics, including ARR, bookings, retention, and margin, and the ability to explain what drives performance.
  • Strong financial modeling and variance analysis skills, with judgment for what matters to an executive audience.
  • Experience partnering directly with senior business leaders (e.g., CEO, GM, or head of sales) and influencing without direct authority.
  • Superior written and verbal communication, including turning analysis into recommendations and using numbers to tell a story.
  • Experience in a private-equity-backed company, including lender or sponsor reporting.
  • Experience with M&A, including synergy tracking or post-acquisition integration.
  • Experience with a modern planning platform (Pigment preferred) or similar tools such as Adaptive, Anaplan, or Planful.
  • Experience with a multi-product or multi-entity software business.

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
