Overview

This is a remote-first role open to candidates legally eligible to work in the United States. For in-person collaboration, you will have the opportunity to travel to the Toronto office every quarter.

The organization is seeking a Tax Lawyer or Tax Accountant (US) with 4–6 years of experience in federal tax to join the product team as an Associate, Tax Solutions (US).

You will use your U.S. federal tax expertise to help design and improve a large language model-enabled tax research tool, including building tax workflows, evaluating output quality, and working with customers to implement and refine workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build tax workflows

    • Convert real tax engagements (provision support, compliance reviews, research memos, entity classification, and more) into structured AI workflows.
    • Write and refine workflow instructions to produce accurate, well-sourced, and consistent output.
    • Test workflows against real fact patterns, identify failure points, and fix issues.
    • Evaluate AI-generated tax analysis for accuracy, currency of sources, and whether a practitioner would rely on it.
  • Implement with customers

    • Partner with tax teams at accounting firms and corporate tax departments to map how work is done today and where workflows fit.
    • Build and configure workflows for each customer’s practice, and guide customer teams through implementation.
    • Help customers verify that workflow output meets their review standards and adjust workflows as needs change.
    • Serve as the workflow expert for accounts led by Customer Success, supporting demos and training.
  • Shape the product

    • Translate customer feedback into clear, prioritized product input.
    • Work with product, engineering, and data science to improve research quality and workflow features.
    • Document best practices and create reusable playbooks and workflow templates.
  • Stay current on U.S. federal tax

    • Research and summarize primary and secondary sources quickly and accurately.
    • Adapt to new areas of tax law as customer needs change.

Requirements

  • Education / credentials

    • A JD, LL.M. in Taxation, or CPA designation
  • Experience

    • 3 to 5 years of experience in U.S. federal income tax
    • 4–6 years of experience in federal tax
  • Preferred experience

    • Big 4 or accounting firm experience strongly preferred, ideally across more than one service line
    • Exposure to innovation, technology rollout, or process improvement in a tax practice
  • Technology and communication

    • Experience in a technology role is a strong plus (legal or tax tech, a product or solutions role, or a firm innovation/digital team where you helped build, configure, or roll out software)
    • Comfort with AI tools and curiosity about how they work and where they fall short
    • Clear, confident communication with partners, practitioners, and engineers alike
    • Ability to bring structure to messy problems and juggle several customer projects at once
  • Business understanding and execution

    • Understanding of how accounting firms run: staffing, client delivery, and the pressure to show value
    • High standards without perfectionism; ship, learn, and improve

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in service lines beyond a single focus area within a tax practice (e.g., across more than one service line)
  • Demonstrated involvement in building, configuring, or rolling out software in a technology-related role

  • Base salary range: $120,000 - $140,000 USD per year
  • Competitive benefits and stock options

Location
