Overview

This hybrid, builder-focused role combines Finance/FP&A and Accounting. You will own bookkeeping and the month-end close while also building budgeting, forecasting, and reporting infrastructure where limited processes currently exist. You’ll serve as the financial modeling lead for decisions related to SKU strategy, retail pricing, and channel expansion.

Responsibilities

  • Own full-charge bookkeeping, monthly close, and accurate financial statement preparation.
  • Establish COGS tracking by channel and product.
  • Build and own company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and variance reporting.
  • Design and maintain a retail-specific contribution margin model, including distribution, trade marketing, slotting, and other retail cost structures distinct from DTC.
  • Partner with the founding team on the financial logic behind retail expansion decisions, including pricing, door count, and SKU selection.
  • Establish labor cost and budget tracking by business unit, tied to marketing efficiency metrics (CAC, LTV, MER).
  • Lay the groundwork for the finance function’s future structure, including team build-out as scope expands.

Requirements

  • Strong accounting fundamentals, with the ability to independently own books and run close as the company’s first dedicated finance hire.
  • Experience owning FP&A at a growth-stage consumer/DTC brand, ideally as an early or founding finance hire.
  • Direct experience modeling retail unit economics, with understanding that velocity and margin—not price matching—drive retail success.
  • Comfort building and formalizing infrastructure and processes across both accounting and FP&A.
  • Proven ability to communicate financial complexity clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a growth-stage consumer/DTC organization with early ownership of both accounting and FP&A.
  • Demonstrated examples of building retail unit economics models and linking them to operational decisions.

Working Hours

  • Remote-first and asynchronous.
  • Requires strong overlap with US business hours (Central Time Zone / CST preferred) for real-time troubleshooting, banking approvals, and communication, due to integration with weekly and monthly payment cycles.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation and benefits details are not specified in the provided description.

Location

  • Remote-first.
  • Strong overlap with US business hours required (Central Time Zone / CST preferred).
