Remote · US Contract
Est. $110K – $155K/yr

Overview

This role is a builder’s position in a hybrid setup, focused on establishing and owning both accounting/close activities and the budgeting, forecasting, and reporting infrastructure. You will also serve as the financial modeling voice in decisions involving SKU strategy, retail pricing, and channel expansion.

Responsibilities

  • Own full-charge bookkeeping, monthly close, and accurate financial statement preparation.
  • Establish COGS tracking by channel and product.
  • Build and maintain company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and variance reporting.
  • Design and own a retail-specific contribution margin model, including distribution, trade marketing, slotting, and other retail cost structures distinct from DTC.
  • Partner with the founding team on the financial logic behind retail expansion decisions, including pricing, door count, and SKU selection.
  • Establish labor cost and budget tracking by business unit, tied to marketing efficiency metrics (CAC, LTV, MER).
  • Lay the groundwork for the future structure of the finance function, including team build-out as scope expands.

Requirements

  • Strong accounting fundamentals; comfortable owning books and managing the close independently as the company’s first dedicated finance hire.
  • Experience owning FP&A at a growth-stage consumer/DTC brand, ideally as an early or founding finance hire.
  • Direct experience modeling retail unit economics, with understanding of why velocity and margin (not price matching) drive retail success.
  • Comfort building and formalizing infrastructure and process across both accounting and FP&A.
  • Proven ability to communicate financial complexity in terms non-finance stakeholders can act on.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience communicating financial complexity and translating it into decisions for cross-functional stakeholders.

Working Hours

  • REMOTE-FIRST & ASYNCHRONOUS.
  • Because this role is integrated with weekly and monthly payment cycles, strong overlap with US business hours is required (Central Time Zone / CST preferred) for real-time troubleshooting, banking approvals, and communication.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Not specified.

Location

  • Hybrid role.
  • Remote-first with required overlap with US business hours (Central Time Zone / CST preferred).

Application Process

Interested candidates should apply directly for consideration. The hiring team will review credentials and notify selected candidates about the interview process.

The application should include a resume and a brief breakdown of a dynamic financial model you built for a DTC e-commerce business, including:

  • Your approach to modeling unit economics (for example, a blend of DTC vs. wholesale margins and marketing efficiency metrics like CAC and MER).
  • How you structured cash flow and inventory forecasting to support rapid scaling and product reorder cycles.

No third-party or agency submissions will be accepted.
