Overview

The organization is seeking a Finance Manager to lead financial planning and analysis for an assigned sales territory within its Commercial and Enterprise Sales organization. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, this role serves as the senior finance partner to territory sales leadership—owning the forecast, reconciling backlog and inventory position to manage risk, and turning financial and operational data into actionable insights.

This is an ownership-focused position responsible for managing a book of business and mentoring the analysts supporting it, including raising the bar for how the team operates.

Responsibilities

Business Partnering & Commercial Finance Leadership

  • Serve as the senior finance partner to sales leadership within the assigned territory, providing financial guidance that shapes business decisions
  • Present financial results, risks, and recommendations to senior and executive audiences, translating complex data into clear, actionable narratives
  • Partner cross-functionally with accounting and operations to identify and resolve issues affecting the territory’s P&L
  • Provide finance approvals to support ongoing operations, applying sound judgment and financial controls

Forecasting, Budgeting & Planning

  • Own the annual plan and the quarterly and monthly forecast updates for the assigned sales territory, partnering with FP&A leadership and territory sales leaders
  • Reconcile backlog and assess inventory position to identify risk and inform near-term forecasting and the annual budget
  • Build and maintain driver-based financial models (historical and predictive) with dynamic inputs reflecting current business conditions
  • Track performance against projections and adjust plans as the territory evolves

Performance Reporting & Analytics

  • Prepare detailed monthly and quarterly P&L variance analysis against budget and forecast, reviewing results with accounting, FP&A, and business management
  • Report on and analyze operational metrics and KPIs, surfacing trends indicating strengthening or weakening performance
  • Own executive and ad hoc reporting, including presentation materials for senior leadership reviews
  • Conceptualize and build summary charts, tables, and dashboards to make large volumes of data easy to consume and act on

Data, Analytics & AI

  • Champion adoption of Power BI dashboards and modern reporting tools within the territory, replacing static spreadsheet decks with dynamic, self-service reporting
  • Model effective use of AI-assisted tools to accelerate analysis and improve forecast accuracy, and encourage the same from the team
  • Develop financial tools, analyses, and metrics that support business strategy and scale beyond a single analysis
  • Standardize KPI frameworks and financial data definitions for consistent reporting within the territory, aligned to broader Commercial and Enterprise Sales standards

Team Leadership & Development

  • Mentor and develop the analysts supporting the territory, coaching technical skills, business acumen, and executive communication
  • Review analyst deliverables for accuracy and clarity before they reach business or executive audiences
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with FP&A leadership on resource planning and team development priorities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or commercial finance, including experience reviewing or mentoring junior team members
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills, including VLOOKUP, IFS, pivot tables, and charts
  • Demonstrated experience building financial models (historical or predictive) with dynamic inputs
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI or similar BI tools, including the ability to guide others in dashboard design
  • Working knowledge of AI-assisted tools (Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, etc.), with a track record of using them to improve team efficiency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-service focus and comfort presenting to executive audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Problem solver with a results-oriented mindset, strong ownership and accountability, and a high bias for action
  • Ability to self-manage and operate independently to meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification (CPA, CMA, CFA) or MBA
  • Prior experience formally managing or mentoring analysts
  • Experience in technology, managed services, or professional services industries
  • Experience with financial planning platforms such as OneStream, Adaptive, or Hyperion
  • Experience with ERP systems such as D365, SAP, Oracle, or Great Plains
  • Proficiency in SQL or Power Query for querying and transforming data sets
