Overview

This role supports strategic capital allocation decisions by building the analysis and operating infrastructure the organization relies on. Responsibilities span owning the driver-based operating model and planning/forecast cycles, translating results into executive-ready narratives, and building the financial case for new product lines, verticals, channels, partnerships, and vendor spend.

Responsibilities

Own the operating model and forecast cycle

  • Own the driver-based operating model for the base business and expand it as new insurance products and business lines launch.
  • Run the annual budget and long-range planning process end to end, including cadence, assumptions, stakeholder inputs, and the consolidated plan the executive team commits to.
  • Own the monthly and quarterly forecast cycle and variance analysis—after Accounting closes the books, explain what moved against plan and prior period, why it moved, and what it means for the forecast.
  • Write executive narratives that translate financial results into clear business insights for the CFO, founders, board, and investors at a standard that survives external diligence.
  • Lead monthly business reviews, partnering with functional leaders to turn what the numbers show into business decisions.
  • Support evaluation and implementation of a planning system: assess options, make recommendations, and own the rollout.

Build the financial case for new opportunities

  • Build financial models for new products, verticals, channels, or partnerships: size the market, model the economics, and evaluate capital commitment and return profile.
  • Read results back against the case: compare actual economics to what was underwritten and carry the lesson into the next decision; monitor product and channel economics including CAC and payback, policy retention and lifetime value, contribution margin, etc.
  • Support corporate development through diligence, modeling, and transaction analysis as needed.
  • Frame build, buy, or partner decisions by helping refine frameworks used to compare options and return profiles.

Underwrite vendor spend

  • Build business cases before commitments are made, support negotiation on terms, and provide budget owners visibility to manage their own numbers.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant experience; ideally combining 2+ years at a reputable investment bank, corporate development group, or private equity firm with 2+ years in strategic finance or FP&A at a high-growth company.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a similarly quantitative field.
  • Strong financial modeling skills, including driver-based operating models, three-statement mechanics, scenario and sensitivity analysis, and working command of accounting concepts and GAAP.
  • Experience with unit economics in a consumer or marketplace business, including CAC, LTV, payback, cohort retention, and contribution margin.
  • Proven ability to translate complex analysis into clear narratives for executive or investor audiences.
  • Startup or high-growth experience strongly preferred, including building financial processes from scratch.
  • Hands-on fluency with AI tools for analysis, research, and workflow automation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Insurance, insurtech, fintech, or marketplace experience.
  • CFA certification.
  • Vendor negotiation or procurement exposure.
  • Finance tech stack experience (NetSuite, Ramp, planning tools).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting pay will fall within the pay range listed on this job posting, determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.
