Overview
The Financial Analyst is responsible for providing financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting for multiple business units. This role involves researching, collecting, reviewing, and monitoring financial data to build timely and accurate financial models aimed at increasing company profit through operational efficiencies and resource utilization improvements. The ideal candidate has excellent problem-solving skills, thrives in a challenging environment, and is energetic, flexible, and self-motivated.
Responsibilities
- Perform general ledger accounting and financial support activities
- Conduct budget and cost reviews, analyze variances between actuals, forecasts, and plans, and use insights to iterate on forecasts and drive operational improvements
- Regularly update forecasting and budget projections
- Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses
- Perform financial analysis and modeling, including pulling and consolidating large data sets, building models from scratch, and improving existing ones
- Provide accurate and appropriate materials to meet monthly close timelines
- Prepare and present compelling presentations to senior executives to support decision making and profitability
- Document key financial processes and identify and implement process improvements
- Collaborate with business leads to summarize and analyze key data
- Consolidate large analytical data sets and present them in an easily interpreted format to support better business decisions
- Lead special analyses and projects to assist leadership with decision making
- Support the School Finance group with financial policies, internal controls, and business processes
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or a relevant field AND
- Two (2) years of relevant experience OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Other Required Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge in multiple finance functions including budgeting, consolidation, performance reporting, and financial analysis
- Understanding of accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team with a customer service orientation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio) and web applications
- Ability to pass a required background check
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range is anticipated to be $53,883.00 to $86,213.00. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Compensation varies based on factors such as geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Offers typically fall in the lower half of the salary range.
