Overview

This role involves supporting budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial performance analysis. The Financial Analyst will work with financial information, interpret results in practical terms, and help stakeholders understand what the numbers mean.

Variance analysis will focus on more than whether results are higher or lower. Where information allows, the analyst will help identify operational or financial drivers behind changes and explain whether variances appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.

Assignments may include updating forecasts, reviewing actual results against budgets, preparing management reports, and testing how changes in assumptions could affect expected outcomes. The role requires organizing inputs, checking calculations, and summarizing the most meaningful drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies
  • Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review
  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis
  • Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable
  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances
  • Present alternative scenarios when a single estimate could create a false sense of precision

Requirements

  • Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment
  • Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis
  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules
  • Comfort learning reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes used by the organization
  • Clear written communication skills, including the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders
  • Ability to exercise good judgment when financial information is incomplete or inconsistent; investigate sources, document limitations, and avoid presenting uncertain results as more precise than they are

  • Salary: $69,000–$77,000 per year
  • Job Type: Full Time
