Overview
A leading microbiological research institute in the Czech Republic is seeking a Financial and Project Manager for international research and development projects funded by Horizon Europe and the Jan Amos Komenský Operational Programme.
The institute specializes in comprehensive studies of microorganisms and mammalian cell lines, focusing on both fundamental research and practical applications in industry and medicine. The Grant Department supports researchers in planning and managing grant projects, including identifying funding sources, preparing applications, administering projects financially and substantively, and providing methodological support.
Responsibilities
- Administer projects from both substantive and financial perspectives
- Ensure compliance with eligible expenditure conditions for projects
- Prepare financial and substantive reports on project implementation and payment requests
- Manage project financial plans and monitor budget spending continuously
- Assist with administration of project change management
- Communicate with funding providers from the Czech Republic and abroad
- Oversee project expenditures to ensure compliance with methodological documentation of OP JAK and Horizon Europe
- Provide cooperation during project audits and controls
- Collaborate with project leaders and co-leaders
- Coordinate with economic, personnel, legal departments, and other internal units involved in projects
- Provide methodological support and consulting to researchers during project implementation
Requirements
- University degree in economics (minimum bachelor's level)
- Experience in administration and financial management of projects funded by structural funds and international sources
- Familiarity with information systems of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and other funding providers (e.g., EU Funding & Tenders Portal)
- Good knowledge of accounting
- Excellent command of Czech and English languages
- Ability to work independently, constructively, precisely, and responsibly
- Proficient computer skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proactive and positive problem-solving approach; ability to work in a team
- Willingness and ability to continue self-education and learn new skills
- Analytical, creative, and structured thinking
- Ability to navigate financial regulations
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Previous experience in similar roles is required
