Overview
This role is a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst position reporting to the FP&A Director. It offers an opportunity to work closely with leadership in a fast-growing SaaS business, supporting financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting. The position is suited for candidates early in their finance careers, ideally with an investment banking background or comparable experience in FP&A, consulting, or transaction advisory.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and maintenance of the annual budget and rolling forecast.
- Update forecasts based on actual performance, market conditions, and input from business partners.
- Prepare detailed financial plans, projections, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare materials for monthly financial performance reviews with department leaders.
- Analyze budget-to-actual variances, identify key drivers and trends, and communicate actionable insights.
- Calculate and track key SaaS unit economics metrics including Gross Margin, Net Dollar Retention (NDR), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), and Lifetime Value (LTV).
- Maintain headcount and hiring trackers, supporting people-cost planning.
- Build and maintain recurring financial reports and dashboards ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop and maintain financial models using bottoms-up and top-down approaches.
- Support scenario analysis and ad-hoc modeling for strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to gather data, validate assumptions, and improve planning accuracy.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance FP&A efficiency.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and provide data-driven insights to leadership.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, ideally in investment banking; comparable FP&A, consulting, or transaction advisory experience will also be considered.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling, with the ability to build models from scratch.
- Experience with G Suite; familiarity with financial systems, Salesforce, and BI tools is a plus.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and understand operational drivers.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to create clear, management-ready presentations and analyses.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related analytical field.
- Ability to operate office equipment and keyboards; work performed in an office or home office environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Investment banking analyst experience (2+ years) or equivalent transaction background.
- Experience with or exposure to SaaS business models.
- Experience working in start-ups from early stage through growth phases.
- Remote work is possible; preference for candidates located in the New York City or Washington, DC area.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $110,000 – $125,000, commensurate with experience.
