Overview

A senior finance operator is needed to support a multi-entity consumer goods business undergoing significant commercial expansion. This role involves working closely with the CFO lead from a fractional CFO advisory firm, owning FP&A execution, and acting as a strategic thought partner to the business.

This position is part of an active client engagement in the consumer products sector, specifically a specialty branded goods company with substantial national retail distribution preparing for major scaling. The role is not focused on reporting or bookkeeping but requires direct collaboration with the advisory firm's team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage FP&A across three entities, including rolling forecasts, working capital models, and cash flow visibility for a US operating entity and two international entities.
  • Coordinate with a Cyprus-based accounting team on accounts receivable, accounts payable, and intercompany flows, handling manual consolidation due to differing accounting systems.
  • Develop expansion and scenario models related to major retail programs, covering inventory builds, funding gaps, and working capital cycles.
  • Stress-test assumptions and translate modeling outputs into actionable business plans.
  • Support financing strategy and lender relations by optimizing the financing stack (trade finance, early payment programs, revolving credit) and preparing financial materials and narratives for lender discussions and credit applications.
  • Provide strategic financial insights on inventory strategy, vendor payment terms, channel economics, and financial behavior at scale.
  • Build financial infrastructure including reporting cadence, KPI structures, and processes to support scaling across multiple geographies and retail channels.

Requirements

  • Significant FP&A experience within consumer goods or closely related industries, with a strong understanding of inventory cycles, seasonal cash flow, retail payment terms, and vendor dynamics.
  • Experience working across multiple entities and international operations, including coordination with overseas accounting teams.
  • Expertise in working capital and cash flow modeling, including modeling funding gaps and presenting findings clearly to owners and lenders.
  • Strategic finance orientation with the ability to use analysis to drive decisions and communicate effectively with founders and operators.
  • Preferably a background in fractional or consulting finance roles, demonstrating quick integration into new client environments and delivery of high-quality work with minimal ramp-up.
  • Availability for approximately 15 hours per month at steady state, with flexibility to increase hours during active planning phases. Engagement scope may expand as the business grows.

Engagement Structure

  • Part-time retainer role working as part of the advisory firm's team on this engagement, with potential opportunities to participate in other projects.
  • Fully remote position.
