GL Accountant

Overview

This role supports multiple network companies through fractional accounting services, including general ledger (GL) transaction recording, reconciliations, and core accounting operations.

Responsibilities

• Record financial transactions in the accounting systems for multiple client companies
• Post customer payments and maintain an up-to-date Accounts receivable aging report as needed
• Record vendor invoices in clients’ accounting systems, including coding expenses to the proper ledger accounts, obtaining authorization to pay, and scheduling payments in an automated payables system
• Reconcile bank records to the general ledger accounts
• Process online payroll and record payroll transactions in the proper ledger accounts
• File sales and property tax as needed
• Perform other accounting tasks as needed by individual clients
• Accurately and diligently record time spent on multiple client engagements for budgeting and billing purposes

Requirements

• Located in either Eastern or Central Standard Time Zones
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years of accounting and/or full charge bookkeeping experience
• Working knowledge of accrual basis accounting and payroll requirements
• Experience with QuickBooks Online and other cloud-based accounting automation tools
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite of products
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
• Critical thinking skills, including the ability to initiate process improvements and solve problems
• Flexibility to manage multiple tasks and shift between priorities
• Ability to work independently as a condition of remote-based work
• Enthusiastic and inquisitive mindset with a desire to learn a broad range of topics
• Creative mindset with the ability to suggest improvements
