Overview
The Investment Analyst role involves vetting market offerings, conducting thorough due diligence on third-party managers and operators, and assisting in the development of investment strategies. This position collaborates closely with Co-Chiefs of Investments, financial advisors, and other stakeholders to develop and implement investment strategies aligned with clients' financial goals and objectives. This is a remote role, with a preference for candidates local to the Santa Monica, CA or San Carlos, CA area. The starting annual salary range is $79,500 - $90,000.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day investment projects and data requests from advisors and other departments
- Conduct research projects on new managers and processes
- Update capital market assumptions annually
- Attend all Investment Committee (IC) meetings and document follow-ups
- Coordinate with existing public and private market managers for quarterly and annual updates
- Collect annual due diligence questionnaires from current managers
- Input and track model portfolios in data and analytics systems
- Perform annual exposure analysis for each model portfolio
- Prepare impact and performance updates and commentary for advisors regularly
- Monitor quarterly performance of underlying investments and report to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and IC
- Coordinate proactively with the marketing team on investment data requests and quarterly updates
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in investment research, portfolio management, or trading
- Strong background in investment research or a related area
- Quantitative skills in financial modeling
- Broad understanding of financial economics, including knowledge of the Efficient Market Hypothesis, the Fama-French model, and material ESG risk factors
- Working knowledge of IMP, SDGs, ISS vs. Glass Lewis, and SASB materiality
- Basic knowledge of ESG and impact investing industry
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with gravitas, including presenting portfolio recommendations to leadership and explaining complex impact measurement concepts to staff or clients
- Proactive, independent self-starter with strong prioritization and communication skills
- Expertise in Excel for project execution and problem analysis
- Willingness to travel occasionally for conferences or office visits
- A designation, certification, or degree (or progress toward one) such as Series 65, CFP, CFA, or MBA is advantageous
