Overview

This role provides day-to-day derivatives operations support to investment portfolio managers, traders, investment reporting, risk, and compliance teams. The position supports middle- and back-office derivatives functions with a focus on trade lifecycle management, including confirmations and affirmations, collateral and margin management, settlements, and reconciliations.

This is a remote role with required travel to the Farmington, CT office for in-person events a few times per year.

Responsibilities

  • Support the derivatives trade lifecycle, including trade capture, allocations, settlements, and lifecycle events.
  • Manage the derivatives confirmations process, ensuring trades are accurately confirmed, affirmed, and processed within required timelines.
  • Coordinate derivatives settlement activities, including pre-settlement confirmation, wire booking, and post-settlement monitoring.
  • Provide oversight of collateral and margin activities, including margin calls, collateral movements, substitutions, returns, reclaims, and dispute resolution.
  • Perform reconciliations and resolve exceptions across internal systems, custodians, counterparties, and accounting records, including breaks related to trades, positions, cash, collateral, and margin.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including portfolio managers, traders, counterparties, brokers, custodians, accounting, risk, compliance, and technology teams.
  • Support derivatives reporting, audits, and documentation to ensure accurate and timely information for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide client support by responding to derivatives-related inquiries and ensuring investment information is communicated accurately and timely.
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives, including automation, control enhancements, reporting, audit requests, and other ad hoc operational activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2–5 years of cumulative, relevant experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with an analytical orientation.
  • Ability to multi-task and to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates a high level of motivation and initiative; results focused.
  • Occasional nights and weekends will be required.
  • Versatility and flexibility to assist with coverage of other team members.
  • Ability to review policies and processes and provide recommendations for improvement and automation.
  • Strong technology focus and interest in using technology to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Bloomberg or other trade order management system experience.
  • Simcorp Dimension or other investment accounting system experience.
  • Good Excel skills.
  • Previous experience working with investments including fixed income, alternative assets, loans and/or derivatives.
  • PowerBI or similar reporting application.
  • High school diploma required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: Min $90,000 – Max $122,000 plus eligibility for annual bonus program.
