Overview
This strategic corporate finance role supports the overall financial performance of the Consumer Bank Line of Business, with a focus on Business Banking. The position plays a key role in supporting new investment areas within Business Banking and provides critical financial management, forecasting, and strategic analysis to help shape the financial performance narrative and its contribution to broader organizational results and strategy. The role also involves exposure to adjacent lines of business including Retail and Commercial Banking, offering a diversified enterprise-wide view of performance.
Responsibilities
Financial Management, Forecasting & Analytical Excellence
- Own and support the monthly forecast process with Business Banking leadership, including running financial books, monitoring performance against plan and historical trends, and identifying risks and opportunities.
- Develop and enhance driver-based forecasting models to improve accuracy and predictability of financial results, focusing on Business Banking performance drivers.
- Lead month-end close reporting activities, including variance analysis, performance commentary, and forward-looking insights.
- Maintain a deep understanding of Business Banking financial performance, including key P&L and balance sheet drivers, translating complex business activity into actionable insights.
- Utilize analytics to identify trends, profitability opportunities, and relationships across client segments, products, and business initiatives.
- Create reporting to monitor progress against strategic initiatives and evaluate performance relative to external benchmarks, industry trends, and macroeconomic factors.
Reporting, Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization
- Own and enhance key financial reporting deliverables such as Business Unit Reviews (BURs), scorecards, executive reporting packages, travel reporting, bluebooks, and business case analyses.
- Partner with leadership to improve BURs and reporting for increased transparency, usability, and strategic value.
- Continuously evaluate reporting and forecasting processes to identify opportunities for streamlining, automation, and efficiency improvements.
- Apply a technical and process-oriented mindset to strengthen data flows, reporting structures, and use of financial systems and tools.
- Lead initiatives to improve the quality, consistency, and scalability of financial information provided to business leaders.
- Manage complex analyses from inception through presentation, ensuring clear communication and data-supported recommendations.
Partner Management & Executive Support
- Serve as a strategic finance partner to the Business Banking Senior Leadership team, providing transparency into financial performance, business drivers, and strategic opportunities.
- Collaborate across Finance and Line of Business teams, including Retail and Commercial Banking stakeholders, to deliver insights on business performance and strategic priorities.
- Present financial results, forecasts, risks, opportunities, and business driver trends to senior leadership monthly and quarterly.
- Proactively review financial and operational performance to identify key themes, emerging risks, and opportunities supporting leadership decision-making.
- Demonstrate strong executive presence and communication skills, translating complex financial concepts into concise business messages.
Business Operations & Leadership
- Take ownership of critical financial management processes and deliver results with limited direction in a fast-paced environment.
- Support the growth of the finance organization by contributing to scalable processes, reporting infrastructure, and best practices.
- Champion continuous improvement by challenging existing processes, recommending enhancements, and leading initiatives to increase organizational effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, corporate finance, or related finance function, preferably supporting a business line within a financial institution.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, including P&L and balance sheet management, with ability to connect financial results to business drivers.
- Experience managing forecasts, financial reporting processes, month-end close activities, and core finance deliverables.
- Proven ability to create and present financial analyses to leadership with strong presentation and executive communication skills.
- Demonstrated success driving continuous improvement, reporting enhancements, process optimization, automation, or operational efficiencies.
- Strong technical aptitude with experience in data-intensive environments and financial reporting systems.
- Highly organized self-starter capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
- Collaborative team player with strong relationship-building and stakeholder influence skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot).
- Experience with financial planning and reporting systems such as Workday Financials, Adaptive Planning, Essbase, TM1, or Cognos.
- Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $63,000.00 - $96,000.00 annually, placement within range based on skills, experience, and geographic location.
- Eligibility for incentive compensation including production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
- Flexible work options with a priority on in-office presence, depending on role requirements.
