Overview
This role is a remote position within the U.S. in the Tax/Finance department. The International Tax Manager will manage U.S. international tax compliance, financial reporting, and planning activities related to foreign operations. The position reports to a tax director and involves collaboration with Finance, Legal, Treasury, Supply Chain, and external advisors.
Responsibilities
Overall
- Develop partnerships with key business stakeholders including financial planning & analysis, legal, international business, and controller teams.
- Manage outsourced workstreams and third-party relationships such as external auditors and tax advisors.
- Mentor and develop tax professionals to support functional requirements and add value.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and tax outcomes within the international tax function.
International Tax Planning
- Manage U.S. international tax processes including computation, modeling, and reporting of GILTI (NCTI), Subpart F, FDII, FTCs, BEAT, and related E&P calculations.
- Model impacts of new legislation and planning initiatives.
- Oversee international tax planning strategies to maximize financial statement benefits, increase after-tax cash flows, and mitigate tax exposure.
- Collaborate with the transfer pricing manager on cross-border transactions by providing compliance requirements and global tax computations.
- Support defense of international tax audits through technical advice, documentation gathering, and updates to computations.
- Support global minimum tax (Pillar Two / GloBE) readiness, modeling, and compliance in coordination with regional tax, accounting, and external advisors.
- Analyze interactions between Pillar Two, U.S. international tax provisions, and financial reporting outcomes.
International Tax Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Manage international tax reporting processes, BEPS, and global reporting requirements including forms 5471, 8858, 1118, 8990, 8991, 8992, 8993, and related schedules.
- Oversee international aspects of the income tax provision (ASC 740), including analyses, reconciliations, disclosures, and quarterly/year-end close processes.
- Prepare and maintain technical memoranda, documentation, and audit-ready support for significant U.S. international tax positions, including uncertain tax positions.
- Own and validate U.S. international tax data inputs ensuring consistency across compliance, provision, and planning.
- Drive continuous improvement of U.S. international tax processes through automation, standardization, and effective use of tax technology tools.
- Stay current on international tax reporting, tax treaties, and cross-border tax laws and regulations from compliance and accounting perspectives.
- Maintain an effective internal control environment to ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and SOX regulations.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required.
- CPA, MST, or JD (or equivalent) required.
Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of corporate tax or public accounting experience (Big 4 or public company preferred).
- At least 3+ years of U.S. international tax experience.
- Preferred 3+ years of experience with U.S. GAAP, ASC 740, and SEC regulations.
- Minimum 2+ years of people management experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong technical knowledge in Federal, International, Planning & Analysis, and Tax Accounting.
- Detail-oriented, organized, analytical, with a problem-solving mindset.
- Proficient in global ERP and tax systems (e.g., OneSource and SAP preferred).
- Excellent supervisory, interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and advanced Excel.
- Strong professional ethics and integrity.
