Overview

The Operations Finance Analyst is embedded within the organization’s IT function, serving as a key financial partner for day-to-day tactical execution of technology budgets, granular forecasting, and operational compliance.

This role bridges technical teams and accounting by tracking IT labor capitalization through rigorous timekeeping and analyzing project-level variances to support a seamless, audit-ready month-end close.

Responsibilities

  • Bottoms-Up Financial Modeling: Partner with IT managers and engineers to build hyper-granular, line-item budgets and monthly forecasts based on actual technical roadmaps and vendor timelines.
  • Variance & Root-Cause Analysis: Monitor real-time spending fluctuations, identify micro-level variances against forecast, and collaborate with technical owners to determine the structural drivers behind spend deviations.
  • Timekeeping & Capitalization Compliance: Own the end-to-end audit process for IT labor timekeeping. Ensure engineering hours are accurately tracked, coded, and compliant with accounting standards (including CapEx vs. OpEx allocation for software development).
  • Month-End Close Acceleration: Reconcile open purchase orders, accrue technical vendor services, and validate operational data points to provide corporate accounting with clean, verified financials for a smooth close cycle.
  • Operational Showback/Chargeback: Maintain and optimize internal billing models to distribute IT infrastructure and service costs accurately to the business units consuming them.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems (MIS), or 2–5 years of experience in a role requiring data reconciliation, operational budgeting, or cost accounting (IT environment preferred).
  • Systems Experience (Plus): Experience with time-tracking software (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow, Clarity), ERP tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle), or dedicated IT Financial Management (ITFM/TBM) software.
  • Advanced Excel Capability: Expertise handling complex datasets, including lookup functions, pivot tables, and data modeling to map unstructured operational logs to financial sheets.
  • “Translator” Mindset: Ability to work with infrastructure engineers, understand technical issues, and translate how delays impact the accounting ledger.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation Range: $89,780.00 - $127,480.00 Annual
  • Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
  • Annual bonus plan for all roles; some positions may be eligible for a long-term equity incentive plan.
  • Full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
