Overview

This Payroll Specialist role supports payroll-focused financial operations within business consulting, including reconciliation, exception handling, and audit-ready documentation. Work is expected to be traceable—showing the source used, what changed, what remains open, and who owns the next action.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile payroll-related discrepancies before reporting or processing, ensuring traceability of all sources, changes, open items, and ownership within ongoing business consulting operations.
  • Track unresolved financial exceptions and maintain clear records of exception status and ownership.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation for payroll-focused workflows, including document review and approval tracking.
  • Protect confidential account information while supporting payroll, financial record maintenance, and reporting.
  • Review financial inputs against supporting records to confirm accuracy and resolve variances.

Success Standard

Success means accurate financial records, reconciliation, and exception handling remain usable under day-to-day operating demands. Repeated errors should become visible, exceptions should have clear owners, and another authorized teammate should be able to verify work status without reconstructing the full history.

Requirements

  • Experience with payroll-focused financial records, reconciliation, and data accuracy.
  • Ability to review invoices and payments, perform payment tracking, and analyze variances.
  • Strong record maintenance skills, including maintaining evidence, owners, and deadlines.
  • Ability to handle exception resolution appropriately, escalating when needed.
  • Ability to work with audit support and document review while maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $43,000-$68,000 per year.
