Overview
This role serves as a Pricing Business Analyst, supporting pricing negotiations, counter-offers, and commercial decision-making with financial modeling and analysis. The work is both reactive and proactive: provide live escalation support during Winning Clinic calls and deliver ongoing preparation, insights, and coaching to improve team performance over time.
Responsibilities
-
Pricing analysis & counter-offers
- Build BPS and CPG counter-proposals for competitive offers.
- Calculate the financial impact of proposed concessions before they are offered.
- Deliver counter-offers within under 48 hours from escalation to counter-offer delivered.
-
Monthly Business Review (MBR) preparation
- Co-own the MBR process by pulling account-specific data, including volume trend, Edge gap, rebate entitlement, and peer benchmarking.
- Structure and validate the deck prior to delivery to the AM.
- Initially work hands-on; target state is automated deck generation with BA validation.
-
Win/loss analysis
- Track save attempts as won, lost, pending, or stalled with no response.
- Identify patterns such as competitors, BPS, tier, and underlying reasons.
- Surface monthly root cause findings to the Manager to strengthen the retention feedback loop.
-
Product gap identification
- Identify accounts with underutilized program benefits: Edge, CLI, IFTA, Secure Fuel, Autopay.
- Prioritize product gaps based on revenue impact and flag to the AM or Advisor.
-
Coaching AMs and Advisors
- Run a monthly debrief covering what worked, what did not, which objections were handled well, and which were escalated too early.
- Coach on winning approaches, including framing value before price, identifying the customer’s real objection, and closing winnable saves in the room rather than escalating too quickly.
- Build and maintain a playbook to preserve institutional knowledge.
-
Winning Clinic / Value Desk escalation support
- Act as the live escalation resource during Winning Clinic calls.
- Provide real-time BPS modeling, fee waiver authorization, and counter-proposal support while the AM or Advisor remains on the call.
-
RFIs / RFPs
- Support AMs on formal procurement requests within their book by building the pricing model, competitive positioning, and financial justification.
- Co-own any RFP above standard contract complexity or above AM pricing authority, escalating to the Manager for final review.
- Maintain turnaround discipline since unanswered or late RFPs can result in lost accounts.
-
Reporting infrastructure — status vs. targets
- Partner with D&A to build a live dashboard tracking performance against model-defined targets, including contact ratio, saved accounts, revenue preserved, and portfolio health score by tier and role.
Requirements / Experience
- 2–5 years in pricing, financial analysis, revenue management, or a comparable analytical B2B role.
- Ability to build BPS or CPG counter-offer models under time pressure while a live negotiation is underway.
- Strong analytical skills and experience building financial models.
- Commercial curiosity and ability to understand customer needs.
- Experience translating data into a compelling narrative for leadership or partner audiences.
- Able to coach front-line AMs and Advisors.
- Salesforce proficiency, including win/loss and pricing case data.
- Fleet, fuel card, or fintech background, including familiarity with CPG pricing, rebate structures, and basis points.
- Experience running a formal win/loss analysis process.
- Experience coaching or training a sales, account management, or retention team.
- Comfortable working directly from live call escalations.
