Overview

A distinguished firm specializing in financial analysis, marketing expertise, and accounting support for the real estate sector is seeking a Property Accountant. The organization serves private equity investors, developers, fund managers, brokers, and other industry leaders, handling diverse real estate transactions ranging from multifamily apartment communities to large-scale office towers across the United States and European markets, with deal sizes typically between $25 million and over $500 million USD.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties
  • Manage month-end close processes, including journal entries and preparation of financial statements
  • Handle lease accounting tasks such as rent, CAM, recoveries, and straight-line rent calculations
  • Conduct bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Review accounts payable/accounts receivable and coordinate with property managers
  • Support budgeting, perform variance analysis, and assist with audits

Requirements

  • CPA, CA, or MBA degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in record-to-report (RTR) and general ledger (GL) accounting
  • At least 3 years of experience as a property accountant with a focus on commercial real estate accounting
  • Proficiency in Yardi accounting software (mandatory) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service orientation
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • In-depth knowledge of real estate accounting principles and regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in real estate or property management sectors
