Rate Case Accountant

Overview

A leading organization in the utility and energy sector is seeking a Senior Asset Accounting Manager to join their Finance Department supporting the Asset & Regulatory Accounting team. This role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and a proactive approach to managing asset accounting operations.

Location: Remote

Pay Range: $80 per hour (W2)

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee asset and regulatory accounting operations across multiple regulated utility jurisdictions.
• Provide technical guidance and review complex accounting issues to support regulatory compliance and filings.
• Manage and mentor a team of asset and regulatory accountants, ensuring professional development and high-quality work.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Construction, Operations, and IT to ensure accurate asset tracking and reporting.
• Support rate case filings by preparing asset schedules, depreciation studies, and regulatory disclosures, serving as a regulatory accounting expert.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA certification is strongly preferred.
• 8 to 12+ years of progressive experience in regulated utility accounting, focusing on asset/property accounting.
• Deep understanding of regulatory accounting standards, rate case processes, and fixed asset management.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring accounting teams.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of serving as a testimony-level resource in regulatory proceedings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in multi-state regulatory environments.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
