Overview
A fiber optic utility construction firm is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Revenue Accountant to join their expanding corporate finance team. This role involves primary ownership of the end-to-end revenue lifecycle, ensuring smooth transitions from contractual setup to cash collection. The Revenue Accountant will collaborate with Project Managers, Business Development, and the parent organization to validate contract values, execute billing metrics, and establish systematic revenue controls.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full billing lifecycle, ensuring all customer invoices are accurately formatted and generated using NetSuite and Zoho Finance modules in compliance with project terms, including retention billing and unique market thresholds.
- Audit in-flight Statements of Work (SOW), purchase orders, and contractual terms to reconcile project margins, confirm project definitions, and align active cost numbers with reporting structures.
- Oversee subcontractor reverse billing lifecycle by cross-verifying physical production and segment footages validated by the field QA/QC team against billing applications before manager approvals.
- Pressure-test and reconcile data across integrated business platforms (NetSuite, Zoho, and custom portal reporting datasets) to identify and correct line duplications or integration discrepancies.
- Manage compliance documentation for large-scale construction milestones, including tracking progress billings, verifying conditional/unconditional lien waivers, and true-up of calculated cash retention roll-offs.
- Collaborate with customers to ensure timely and accurate invoicing, collections, and payment applications to drive positive cash flow.
- Support variance commentary by assisting in building financial narratives for monthly executive management reports, comparing revenue realization pipelines against forecasted project benchmarks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a highly analytical business discipline.
- 5-7 years of corporate accounting experience with a strong focus on revenue recognition, billing workflows, or project costing.
- Prior experience in construction, engineering, telecommunications, or defense contracting industries is highly preferred.
- Professional hands-on experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as NetSuite, Ramp, or enterprise Zoho suites.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex nested lookups, index-matching, and conditional filtering.
- Strong root-cause analytical skills to identify and prevent recurring errors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable working with diverse internal and external stakeholders ranging from field operators to C-suite executives.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000 per year plus a 10% bonus.
- Schedule: Day shift, Monday through Friday.
- Remote position with 5-10% travel required.
