Revenue Accountant

Overview

A technology company specializing in AI research and products is seeking a Revenue Accountant Lead to manage end-to-end revenue recognition under ASC 606. The organization serves millions of users and thousands of businesses globally, offering platforms for AI voice, creative content generation, and developer APIs.

Responsibilities

• Own revenue recognition processes in compliance with ASC 606, including multi-element arrangements and contract modifications
• Lead the revenue close process, managing deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, journal entries, and month-end analysis
• Collaborate with Sales, Legal, Billing Operations, Engineering, and FP&A teams to review contracts and assess revenue impact
• Serve as the internal expert on revenue accounting for new products, pricing structures, and commercial arrangements
• Coordinate with external auditors and support controls build-out
• Develop scalable revenue recognition processes to support IPO readiness

Requirements

• Deep expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition standards, including SSP evaluation, variable consideration, and principal vs. agent analysis
• Proven experience leading revenue close activities and managing deferred revenue and unbilled receivables
• Strong partnership experience with Sales and Legal teams on contract review and revenue impact
• Experience in pre-IPO or public company environments with exposure to external audits and revenue accounting documentation
• Active CPA, ACA, or ACCA qualification
• Background in Big 4 or public accounting is a strong plus
• Proficiency with revenue recognition systems; experience with Stripe, HubiFi, or similar tools preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with consumption/usage-based and subscription billing models
• Familiarity with ASC 326 (CECL) and accounts receivable accounting in high-volume SaaS environments
• Experience with multi-entity or international revenue accounting

Location

This is a remote-first position open to candidates based on the East Coast of the United States (ET timezone). Applicants outside this timezone will not be considered. There is also an option to work from the office located in New York.
