Overview

This role involves managing the day-to-day revenue accounting for core revenue streams including Direct To Consumer (DTC) memberships and imaging and scan services. The position requires preparing month-end and quarter-end closes, executing account reconciliations and variance analyses, and building scalable systems and processes. The revenue streams are at varying stages of maturity with data quality challenges, requiring close collaboration with data engineering and product teams to identify and resolve root causes.

The Senior Accountant will report to the Senior Manager, Core Revenue, and be a key contributor within a lean, high-autonomy team. This role offers the opportunity to influence the development of the revenue accounting function and requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual comfortable working through ambiguity and evolving data environments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly and quarterly close processes for DTC memberships and imaging/scan services revenue, including journal entries, deferred revenue schedules, and account reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial results, investigate fluctuations, and explain variances in balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Identify and trace data quality issues across revenue systems to their root causes; collaborate with data engineering and product teams to resolve these issues.
  • Support the integration of new revenue recognition systems by mapping data flows, testing configurations, and defining system requirements for clean, auditable closes.
  • Reconcile revenue and payment data, including Stripe transaction details, to resolve discrepancies between subledgers, payment processors, and the general ledger.
  • Maintain revenue schedules and supporting documentation; prepare audit support materials as needed.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce manual work and strengthen controls as revenue streams mature.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience with exposure to revenue accounting; experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Ability to work effectively with messy, undocumented data and immature systems without waiting for perfect processes.
  • Proven track record of identifying root causes of data quality issues and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement fixes.
  • Experience independently performing month-end close, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Strong data manipulation skills, comfortable working with large, imperfect datasets using Excel or similar tools.
  • Clear and proactive communicator with strong attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards, especially as applied to service-based and subscription revenue models.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation or actively pursuing certification.
  • Experience in subscription-based or health technology businesses.
  • Familiarity with Stripe or other payment processor data.
  • Experience with ERP or revenue recognition system integrations (e.g., Rillet, NetSuite) from an accounting perspective.
  • Hands-on experience using AI or automation tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, advanced Excel/Sheets, scripting) in accounting workflows or a strong perspective on their application.
