Overview
Senior, hands-on accounting role with end-to-end ownership of fiat entities supporting a regulated payments and crypto on/off-ramp business. The position reports to the Accounting and Financial Reporting Lead and operates as an individual contributor within a small accounting team.
This role covers four entities: two e-money institutions in the EU and the UK that are in the licensing pipeline, plus fiat entities in the US and Canada.

- New entity set-up:
- Build chart of accounts and bank mapping
- Set up close calendar
- Define statutory and tax filing calendar for each newly licensed entity
- EMI accounting and reporting:
- Own safeguarding and client-money reconciliations designed with Treasury
- Provide inputs for own-funds and capital-adequacy calculations
- Prepare EMI regulatory returns to the national regulator and the FCA end to end
- Month-end close: For every entity, cover bank reports mapped by counterparty and intercompany, accruals, prepayments, loans, payroll entries, and FX revaluation.
- Intercompany: Record and reconcile heavy intercompany flows with Treasury and support transfer pricing documentation.
- Local statutory and tax compliance:
- Prepare EU and UK annual accounts
- Produce VAT and statistical reporting
- Manage Companies House and HMRC deadlines
- Provide year-end inputs for the US and Canada
- Own the filing calendar and work with external tax advisers
- Invoice control: Check that supplier invoices meet local tax requirements before payment.
- Audit and group reporting: Provide consolidation inputs, prepare audit schedules, and respond to auditor queries for your entities.
- Management accounts: Prepare monthly entity-level accounts, perform analytical review of P&L and balance-sheet movements, and investigate unusual items before close sign-off.
- Process build: Document close procedures and controls for each new entity, designed to scale after licensing.
Requirements

- Strong IFRS knowledge (UK GAAP / FRS 102 accepted) and a working understanding of US GAAP simplifications; ability to analyse new transactions, decide accounting treatment, and document positions.
- Multi-entity, multi-currency accounting experience including intercompany reconciliation, FX revaluation, and group consolidation (eliminations and foreign-currency translation).
- Strong balance-sheet ownership, including account reconciliations, ageing analysis, investigation of unreconciled items, and balance substantiation.
- Experience reconciling high-volume payment data to bank accounts and the general ledger.
- Fintech or payments background.
- Builder mindset—comfortable setting up processes from scratch.
- Fluent English.
- Existing right to work and residence in the EU/EEA or the UK.
