Overview
This role supports Engine X, a corporate card and spend management product with growing application volume that requires rigorous, fast credit decisioning. The Sr. Credit Analyst owns the end-to-end underwriting cycle, including application review, KYB, limit-setting, documentation, and escalation, with independent analytical judgment and the ability to identify what the team needs to know.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Engine X credit underwriting queue from receipt to decision, applying the credit decision framework with speed and documented rationale.
- Run KYB verification by validating business identity, interpreting D&B and equivalent bureau data, and assessing creditworthiness for each application.
- Identify steps in the underwriting workflow that can be systematized or removed, and contribute observations that support building toward a decision engine.
- Document every decision to meet standards required for exception review and regulatory defensibility, producing notes that stand on their own without verbal explanation.
- Identify patterns across applications, including shared signals, exception trends, and emerging risk indicators, and proactively surface them.
- Support backtest analysis for proposed rule changes by assessing the impact of policy shifts on historical application data.
- Contribute to SOP development and documentation as the credit framework matures.
- Coordinate with the Fraud team on application-stage signals that overlap between fraud and credit risk.
Requirements
- 3+ years of commercial or business credit analysis or underwriting experience, comfortable owning the full decision lifecycle independently.
- D&B or equivalent commercial credit bureau experience.
- KYB process execution experience.
- Automation mindset: discomfort with manual processes that could be systematized, and an ability to treat the queue as a source of signals for automation opportunities.
- Strong documentation skills: underwriting rationale that stands on its own for exception review or regulatory defensibility.
- Ability to identify patterns across applications and proactively flag policy gaps.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fintech, corporate card, or SMB credit environment experience strongly preferred.
- SQL or Google Sheets / Excel for data analysis.
- Experience contributing to SOP or credit policy documentation.

- Base pay range: $72,300—$100,000 USD.
- Equity: all roles receive equity.
- Bonus: depending on the role, total compensation may include an annual bonus.
- Benefits: company benefits are provided; specific benefits vary by employment type and location.
