Overview
A company specializing in tactical robotic systems for defense, national security, and public safety missions is seeking a Senior Finance Analyst. This role focuses on planning, forecasting, and performance management for operating expenses, capital expenditures, and headcount. The position reports to the Manager of FP&A and involves partnering with department leaders, Accounting, People Operations, and other stakeholders to translate business plans into accurate forecasts and actionable insights.
Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly and quarterly review process for OpEx and CapEx, analyzing actual results versus budget, prior forecasts, and prior-year trends.
- Prepare variance reports and executive-level commentary for functional spend areas, providing clear financial insights and recommended actions.
- Collaborate with department leaders and budget owners to support budget management, headcount planning, spend pacing, and accountability.
- Coordinate quarterly forecast updates for OpEx, CapEx, and headcount, including collecting inputs, challenging assumptions, and updating schedules.
- Support the annual budgeting process for operating expenses and capital expenditures, converting business plans into realistic targets and operating guardrails.
- Maintain and refine the OpEx and CapEx components of the long-range financial model, including assumptions, investment timing, depreciation, and scenario analysis.
- Track capital projects and approved investments against budget, timing, and business case assumptions; coordinate with accounting on capitalization timing and forecast accuracy.
- Support spend and commitment approval workflows by validating budget availability, cost-center and project coding, and alignment with approved plans.
- Develop and maintain analyses at the headcount, vendor, and project levels to improve visibility into spend drivers and budget pressures.
- Partner with accounting during monthly close to understand accruals, reclassifications, and actuals trends affecting forecasting accuracy.
- Enhance planning templates, reporting packages, data quality, and finance tools to improve scalability and decision usefulness.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses related to cost optimization, hiring tradeoffs, investment prioritization, and other operating decisions.
Requirements
- 3–6 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, strategic finance, finance business partnering, or related roles with strong analytical and operational exposure.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong Excel and financial modeling skills, capable of building driver-based schedules and producing clear outputs.
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and monthly reporting in dynamic environments.
- Ability to work directly with non-finance stakeholders and translate financial concepts into practical guidance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear commentary and structured presentations.
- High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and ability to operate independently with ownership in a fast-changing environment.
- Collaborative, low-ego approach with willingness to engage in detailed work while maintaining broader business context.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in hardware, manufacturing, operations-heavy, or high-growth environments requiring close coordination on spend, headcount, and investment planning.
- Direct experience with headcount planning, capital expenditure tracking, or project-based investment analysis.
- Familiarity with ERP, procurement, HRIS, or FP&A systems supporting forecasting, reporting, and budget management.
- Experience building reporting packages or dashboards to improve visibility into operating expense and capital spend trends.
- Background supporting leaders through monthly or quarterly business reviews, including variance commentary and actionable recommendations.

- Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones.
- Physically able to walk between office and production areas and attend off-site events or meetings as needed.

- Standard work hours are 8:30am-5:00pm with occasional overtime as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $100,000 - $120,000 USD per year (Remote).
