Overview

This role supports the organization’s cost accounting policies, reporting, and profitability analysis to drive financial and growth objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Direct cost accounting policies, controls, and reporting to support financial and growth objectives.
  • Architect and scale the cost accounting framework, including expense allocation methodologies across business segments and legal entities.
  • Provide market and product-level profitability analysis to guide leadership on margin optimization.
  • Support the financial mechanics of intercompany arrangements, including cost allocation, transfer pricing inputs, and reporting requested by internal and third-party counterparties.
  • Build and maintain driver-based financial models connecting membership growth, staffing decisions, and vendor spend to the P&L and cash.
  • Support or own components of the monthly close related to cost, including accruals, allocations, variance analysis against budget and forecast, and management reporting packages led with drivers rather than restated numbers.
  • Develop business cases and ROI analyses for vendor and build-versus-buy decisions, market expansion, and headcount investments; track investment accountability to what was modeled.
  • Partner with a cross-functional team to continuously improve and standardize policy, process, and controls, with an emphasis on technology development and moving reporting from spreadsheets to scalable, self-service tooling.
  • Support market, network, and clinical teams with the education, tools, and supplemental reporting needed to manage their own cost performance.
  • Own responsibility for satisfying applicable audit, examination, and other regulatory or compliance inquiries and requests.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5–10 years of finance and/or accounting experience.
  • Hands-on cost accounting experience, including allocation methodology, cost center design, unit cost or product-level costing, and the ability to defend how a number was built.
  • Core FP&A or accounting experience including cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, variance analysis, and management reporting.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills, including comfort working with large and imperfect data sets, AI, and/or a BI platform.
  • Deep understanding of ERP or planning systems, or the ability to stand up a cost allocation model from scratch.
  • Ability to explain financial results clearly to non-finance stakeholders and to challenge assumptions respectfully when numbers do not support the narrative.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and process improvements are built.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare services and/or health insurance experience.
  • An undergraduate and/or graduate degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $58,000–125,000 annually.
  • Employer sponsored health, dental, and vision plan with low or no premium.
  • Generous paid time off.
  • $100 monthly mobile or internet stipend.
  • Stock options for all employees.
  • Bonus eligibility for all roles excluding Director and above; Commission eligibility for Sales roles.
  • Parental leave program.
  • 401K program.
  • Total rewards package is for full time employees only; Intern and Contract positions are not eligible.
