Overview
A Senior Financial Planning and Analysis professional is sought to join the Finance department, reporting to the Senior Manager of Financial Systems and Business Intelligence. This exempt position is based primarily at the corporate headquarters in Monterey, CA, with options for US remote work.
The role involves budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, business intelligence, FP&A systems administration, executive-level financial presentation development, and the practical use of modern AI tools. The position supports a $1B+ B2B services organization specializing in telephone-based interpretation solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, long-range planning, scenario planning, and target-setting processes, ensuring accuracy and thorough documentation.
- Build and maintain financial models, variance analyses, trend reports, and performance dashboards to inform senior leadership decisions.
- Administer and enhance FP&A planning models, reporting structures, workflows, user access, and system documentation within Prophix or a similar corporate performance management platform.
- Collaborate with Finance, IT, Sales, Payroll, and other teams to extract, reconcile, and validate data from Microsoft D365 Finance & Operations, Salesforce CRM, data warehouses, and related reporting tools.
- Develop recurring and ad hoc reports using Excel, Prophix, Power BI, Management Reporter, SQL or SQL-like queries.
- Create polished PowerPoint presentations for senior leadership, operating reviews, budget and forecast packages, and board materials.
- Utilize approved AI tools such as ChatGPT responsibly to enhance productivity, including drafting variance explanations, summarizing findings, developing formulas, refining queries, and identifying automation opportunities.
- Support monthly close analysis, management reporting, audit requests, and special projects.
- Research and resolve data discrepancies, system errors, integration issues, and reporting problems.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, data definitions, control documentation, training materials, presentation templates, and AI-assisted workflow guidance.
- Communicate financial results, risks, opportunities, and recommendations clearly and concisely to finance leadership and business stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in FP&A, financial analysis, corporate finance, finance systems, or business intelligence.
- Strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex formulas, data manipulation, and large workbook management.
- Expert-level Microsoft PowerPoint skills for executive-grade deck design and financial storytelling.
- Practical experience with modern AI tools, especially ChatGPT or similar generative AI platforms, applied responsibly in a professional setting.
- Experience with FP&A/CPM platforms such as Prophix (strongly preferred), Jedox, Board, Adaptive Planning, Hyperion, Anaplan, or OneStream.
- Knowledge of ERP/financial systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
- Familiarity with database structures and data-query tools, including basic SQL or SQL-like query environments.
- Experience working with CRM, data warehouse, or BI/reporting data, preferably Salesforce and Power BI.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, documentation, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and deliver accurate work under deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in B2B services, healthcare, contact center, subscription, or usage-based business models.
- Experience administering cloud-based planning systems, including data integrations, workflow, security, user training, maintenance, upgrades, and testing.
- Familiarity with Salesforce data, financial data warehouses, Power BI semantic models, and Microsoft Management Reporter.
- Experience preparing executive business reviews, board materials, lender/investor presentations, or senior leadership financial packages.
- Experience using AI coding or agentic development tools (e.g., Codex) to assist with SQL, reporting logic, Excel/Power Query/Power BI calculations, documentation, testing scripts, automation prototypes, or collaboration with IT/data teams.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CFA, or FPAC are highly valued.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range for Monterey, CA headquarters and US remote positions: $110,000 to $120,000 USD annually.
- Bonus potential is available.
