Overview
A high-growth technology organization is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst – Strategic Finance & Special Projects to provide analytical support directly to senior leadership, including the CEO, CFO, and Senior Director of FP&A. This role focuses on addressing complex, ambiguous financial and strategic questions across the company rather than supporting a specific product vertical. The position requires strong technical skills in data extraction and analysis, combined with business acumen to translate findings into actionable insights for executive decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end analysis on special and ad hoc projects assigned by senior leadership, focusing on operational and business performance, identifying trends and anomalies, constructing narratives, and delivering clear recommendations.
- Perform financial modeling and analysis to evaluate organic and inorganic growth opportunities, new business lines, pricing strategies, and operational investments.
- Manage ad-hoc projects involving market sizing, scenario modeling, and long-term strategic opportunity assessments.
- Develop and stress-test business cases for major strategic initiatives, providing leadership with grounded views of expected returns and key assumptions.
- Independently source, extract, and manipulate data from multiple internal and external sources using tools such as Tableau, Pitchbook, and Amplitude.
- Collaborate closely with the Business Intelligence team to build scalable data pipelines, improve data accessibility, and support the development of analytical infrastructure for the finance function.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a related analytical field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in finance, strategy, investment banking, management consulting, or a related analytical function.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, capable of writing complex queries, joining multiple data sources, and extracting insights independently from large datasets.
- Strong financial modeling skills, including scenario analysis, sensitivity modeling, discounted cash flow (DCF), and return on investment (ROI) frameworks.
- Experience working directly with or embedded near Business Intelligence or data engineering teams.
- Ability to operate effectively in high-ambiguity environments with minimal direction, structuring problems from scratch and driving to actionable conclusions.
- Exceptional written communication skills, with experience producing narrative-format analyses and recommendations for senior leadership.
- Proven ability to present complex analyses to C-suite and senior executives, including managing pushback and adapting presentations dynamically.
- Willingness to learn and actively leverage AI tools to improve analytical speed and quality.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
- Permanent US work authorization is required.
