Overview
A clinical-stage immunology organization focused on developing targeted therapies for autoimmune diseases is seeking a Senior Manager, R&D Accounting. This role supports the accounting team by managing clinical trials and R&D accrual processes, collaborating closely with Clinical Operations, Manufacturing, and R&D departments.
Responsibilities
- Prepare month-end clinical and R&D accrual analyses, including reviews of CRO reports, patient costs, site accruals, and clinical manufacturing accruals, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policies.
- Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting documentation.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations related to clinical and prepaid/accrued expenses.
- Conduct variance analysis to provide insights into financial performance, identifying key trends and potential risks.
- Review contracts and amendments to assess their impact on clinical accruals.
- Maintain SOX controls for assigned responsibilities.
- Support internal and external reporting requirements to ensure timely and accurate financial reports for management, investors, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Operations, Manufacturing, Research, FP&A, and other business units.
- Coordinate with external CROs and clinical/manufacturing vendors to ensure accurate accrual accounting.
- Assist with documentation and explanations related to R&D accounting during annual audits.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in accounting processes and systems.
- Provide support for special projects, system improvements, or ad-hoc requests as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of biotech experience, including at least 2 years focused on clinical trial accrual accounting.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX controls, and financial close and reporting processes.
- Proficiency with financial software and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite and Coupa preferred.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- High integrity, attention to detail, commitment to accuracy, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Work Environment
- Remote-based position.
- Fast-paced, dynamic, and entrepreneurial work setting.
- Domestic or international travel up to 10% required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $155,000 - $175,000 USD.
- Compensation varies based on market location, knowledge, skills, and experience.
