Overview

This role produces research that defines the organization’s view of the robotics sector. Research is central to investment decisions, diligence for allocators, and establishing credibility within the category.

The position is a senior individual contributor role, with potential to grow into leading a research team and becoming a prominent external voice—based first on the quality and impact of the research.

Responsibilities

  • Own coverage of the robotics value chain by producing market maps, addressable market and adoption forecasts, technology roadmaps, competitive dynamics, and underwriting frameworks behind positions.
  • Set institutional research standards by defining methods, sourcing, and review disciplines.
  • Publish public research including whitepapers, thematic notes, market maps, and data-driven analysis.
  • Engage externally as appropriate by presenting research to investors and, based on strengths, to media, podcasts, and industry conferences.
  • Support investment diligence by contributing technical and market diligence for prospective private and public investments and bringing an independent research perspective to investment discussions.
  • Enable growth efforts by equipping sales with the research allocators require and participating in investor meetings where research depth is decisive.
  • Work within a public-market framework by partnering with compliance and legal to ensure published research meets standards applicable to a listed fund.

Requirements

  • 3+ years producing analytical work of professional standard, from research at an asset manager, independent research firm, or sell-side institution; or from robotics, supply chain, product, or engineering roles; or from independent writing.
  • A strong portfolio of published work demonstrating the calibre of insight required.
  • Demonstrable domain expertise in robotics, automation, or adjacent frontier technology, with the technical depth to evaluate hardware, software, and systems.
  • A published body of work showcasing original insight (not just consensus summaries) and forecasting judgment you are willing to stand behind.
  • Strong quantitative and modeling capability, including market sizing, adoption curves, unit economics, and long-horizon forecasting.
  • Experience presenting to sophisticated audiences, such as institutional investors, investment committees, or industry forums.
  • Excellent written communication—ability to clarify technically complex subjects without diluting substance.
  • A technical or engineering background (or equivalent demonstrated fluency) is an advantage.
  • An established public profile through media, conferences, or widely read commentary is an advantage, not required.

Preferred Qualifications / Ideal Candidate Profile

  • A first-principles thinker who forms independent, well-reasoned views and can defend them publicly.
  • Long-horizon conviction in robotics and frontier technology.
  • Comfort representing the firm externally where appropriate, with judgment suitable for a listed investment vehicle.
  • Effective in a lean organization, able to produce work directly.
  • Proficient with modern AI tools to extend research, modeling, and publication capacity.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $120,000–$190,000 + Bonus

Location

  • Fully remote (U.S.)
