Overview
This role involves serving as a Senior Revenue Accountant responsible for overseeing revenue recognition and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, specifically ASC 606. The position supports the monthly close process, analyzes complex customer contracts, maintains accurate financial records, and partners cross-functionally to ensure proper revenue treatment. Additionally, the role contributes to process improvements, strengthens controls, and supports audits.
Responsibilities
- Review customer contracts and determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606, including documenting nonstandard terms
- Manage key components of the monthly and quarterly close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide revenue insights and support deal structuring decisions
- Support external audits and ensure revenue-related documentation and controls are thorough
- Help scale and improve revenue systems, processes, and controls as the business grows
- Participate in revenue accounting and quote-to-cash cycle special projects
- Build relationships and support cross-department efforts with accounting, FP&A, sales, deal desk, and legal teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Revenue Accounting at a high-growth technology company
- Strong technical knowledge of ASC 606 for Software and SaaS, including usage-based commit contracts
- Proficiency with Revenue Systems such as Workday Financials, NetSuite ARM, and Zuora Revenue
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and attention to detail
Preferred Skills
- Experience with account analysis, accounting journal entries, audit preparations, data entry, financial analysis, financial reports, and financial statements
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
