Overview

This role involves joining a Credit Risk team at a pioneering peer-to-peer lending marketplace in the United States. The team focuses on developing and implementing credit and fraud strategies using advanced analytics and machine learning to optimize automated credit decisions and maintain competitive marketplace performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine credit and fraud strategies to improve credit performance using data, machine learning models, and advanced analytics tools.
  • Apply innovative and creative problem-solving approaches to risk management challenges.
  • Design and analyze A/B tests to evaluate risk and customer experience trade-offs.
  • Continuously test new data sources, analytics methods, and models to enhance risk strategies.
  • Collaborate with Data Science, Product, Engineering, and other teams to implement, test, and validate credit and fraud prevention strategies.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses related to risk management, product performance, and operations.
  • Monitor portfolio performance at a detailed segment level regularly.
  • Identify trends and perform root-cause analyses to isolate key performance drivers.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to Risk Management and broader stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree or 5 years with a Bachelor’s degree managing credit risk, fraud, or data science in the consumer lending industry; experience with consumer personal loans or credit cards is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python is required; experience with DBT and Looker is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to team members and senior management.
  • Knowledge of segmentation, statistical procedures, and financial analytic tools.
  • Curiosity and willingness to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and explore root causes.
  • Strong ownership mentality and motivation to drive business results.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Candidates without financial services experience but with strong technology and analytical skills will also be considered.
  • Self-starter comfortable working with ambiguity.

  • Salary range: $129,000 - $140,000 annually, plus bonus and comprehensive benefits.
