Overview

The organization is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to join the Global Internal Audit team.

This role can be based in any of the organization’s offices within either the Mountain Time Zone (MST) or Pacific Time Zone (PST) in US or Canada.

In this position, you will lead assigned process and operational audit engagements—from planning and scoping through fieldwork, reporting, and close-out. You will partner with stakeholders across functions and geographies to evaluate business processes, risks, and controls, using traditional audit techniques and modern data analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead assigned internal audit engagements, including planning, fieldwork, stakeholder engagement, timelines, deliverables, reporting, and file close-out.
  • Conduct pre-audit research and risk assessments; develop audit scopes, work programs, information requests, meeting agendas, and delivery plans.
  • Facilitate process walkthroughs with process owners and management to understand business processes, systems, data flows, risks, and key controls.
  • Assess control design and operating effectiveness using sample-based testing, data analytics, and full-population analysis where appropriate.
  • Apply critical thinking, professional judgment, and professional skepticism to evaluate evidence, challenge assumptions, identify emerging risks, and determine root causes.
  • Use data analytics to identify trends, anomalies, and higher-risk transactions and to generate insights beyond traditional sample-based testing.
  • Extract, transform, reconcile, analyze, and visualize data using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power Query, Power BI, SQL, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Evaluate completeness, accuracy, and reliability of data used for audit testing; document analytical procedures, assumptions, and conclusions clearly.
  • Assess technology-enabled business processes, including interactions between enterprise systems, data flows, automated controls, and manual controls.
  • Prepare clear, complete, and reviewable audit workpapers in accordance with Internal Audit methodology and templates.
  • Develop concise and balanced audit observations and reports covering issue, root cause, risk, potential consequence, and practical recommendations.
  • Work constructively with management to validate findings and support action plan development, including accountable owners and target completion dates.
  • Present audit results to management and other key stakeholders; respond objectively to questions, challenges, and additional evidence.
  • Follow up on management actions and assess whether agreed actions and underlying risks have been appropriately addressed.
  • Support quarterly Internal Audit reporting for senior leadership and the Board Audit Committee.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Internal Audit methodologies, templates, analytics capabilities, and ways of working, including responsible use of AI-enabled tools.
  • Support special projects, including confidential integrity- and fraud-related investigations, as required.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience delivering process and/or operational audits from planning and scoping through fieldwork, reporting, and close-out.
  • Strong understanding of internal audit methodologies, internal controls, risk management, and evidence-based assurance practices.
  • Strong critical-thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills to work through complex or ambiguous information and develop well-supported conclusions.
  • Ability to identify patterns and root causes; challenge assumptions; distinguish isolated exceptions from broader process or control weaknesses.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to challenge constructively while maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communicating complex issues clearly and concisely to management and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple activities, dependencies, and deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Strong data literacy and experience applying data analytics within audit, risk, assurance, or business analysis activities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Power Query skills.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, including ability to query, filter, join, and analyze structured datasets.
  • Experience using Power BI to analyze data, visualize results, and communicate meaningful insights.
  • Ability to understand technology-enabled processes and the relationship between systems, data, automated controls, and manual controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in internal audit, risk, assurance, professional services, or a related discipline.
  • A completed or in-progress CA, CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE, CRMP, or other relevant professional designation will be highly regarded.
  • Ability to accommodate a moderate level of domestic and international travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Microsoft Fabric or comparable enterprise data platforms.
  • Experience with data modeling and combining large datasets from multiple enterprise systems.
  • Experience analyzing data from ERP, payroll, financial, project-management, or similar enterprise platforms.
  • Experience applying analytics to full data populations to supplement or replace traditional sample-based testing.
  • Experience with AI-enabled analytical or productivity tools, including responsible use, confidentiality, and validation of AI-assisted outputs.
  • Experience assessing automated controls, ERP systems, and technology-dependent business processes.
  • Forensic accounting or confidential investigations experience.
  • Experience in a professional services, multidisciplinary consulting, or Big Four environment.
