Overview
A growing AI-powered, all-in-one white-label sales and marketing platform is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join their indirect tax team. This role involves managing US sales and use tax, international VAT/GST, digital services taxes, annual reports, and property tax filings within a high-volume SaaS environment. The position requires ownership of tax workflows, tracking evolving economic nexus and international tax laws, and ensuring billing systems support accurate and scalable tax reporting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee preparation, review, and timely filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual domestic sales & use tax and international VAT/GST returns, business licenses, and property tax filings.
- Serve as the internal contact for tax software configurations; maintain and improve indirect tax calculation and reporting systems to automate workflows.
- Monitor and analyze domestic and international tax laws related to digital goods, SaaS, and economic nexus to ensure proactive compliance.
- Support indirect tax audits by managing information document requests (IDRs) and collaborating with leadership to defend tax positions.
- Prepare and review monthly tax accruals and perform balance sheet reconciliations for indirect tax accounts within NetSuite.
- Manage collection, validation, and maintenance of customer tax exemption certificates.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Billing, and Legal teams to evaluate taxability of new products, software features, and bundles.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in indirect tax (Sales & Use, VAT, GST), ideally combining public accounting and corporate roles.
- Strong knowledge of SaaS taxability rules, digital products, and sourcing rules.
- Experience managing tax calculations and reporting within tax software systems and NetSuite ERP; familiarity with Stripe Tax is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills including pivots, VLOOKUPs, and data manipulation; ability to work with large transactional datasets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation or Master of Taxation degree is highly desirable.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and fast organizational growth.
- Proven data-driven problem-solving skills with a focus on automating tax processes.
- Excellent communication skills to translate complex tax regulations for non-finance stakeholders and maintain thorough documentation.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $91,000 - $114,000 annually.
