Overview

The organization is seeking a Strategic Finance Lead to serve as the sole dedicated FP&A partner on the Strategy & Finance team. This is a build-it role focused on owning forecasting, budgeting, and planning models, and delivering insights that guide decision-making across the business.

This position is remote-first and flexible. Work can be performed from anywhere in the U.S., and full-time U.S. employees are eligible for the benefits listed below.

Responsibilities

  • Own forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning by building and maintaining financial models that support:
    • Annual budget
    • Quarterly and monthly forecasts
    • Multi-year strategic plans
  • Run planning cycles end to end by partnering with department heads to develop plans that are both realistic and ambitious, serving as the single owner of FP&A
  • Analyze actuals versus budget and forecast, explain variances, and translate results into recommendations for what to do next
  • Define and track key metrics by developing KPIs and building trustworthy dashboards and reporting for leadership
  • Act as a business partner with Sales, Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Operations to support strategic initiatives with financial analysis and a point of view
  • Prepare board-quality analysis and presentations for the executive team covering financial performance, unit economics, and key business drivers
  • Support strategic and ad-hoc modeling needs, including scenarios for fundraising, new product launches, pricing, and market expansion
  • Raise the bar on how finance operates by driving FP&A process improvements to increase speed, accuracy, and scalability as the organization grows

AI Use in This Role

  • Sharpen forecasting and modeling with AI to improve forecast accuracy, test assumptions, run scenarios faster, and stress-test key decision models
  • Automate manual work by streamlining data gathering, reconciliation, reporting, and repetitive tasks tied to close and planning cycles
  • Generate insight from large and messy datasets by identifying patterns and anomalies and surfacing actionable business conclusions
  • Experiment with new AI-enabled finance tools and workflows, helping establish how the finance function uses AI responsibly and effectively as it scales

You do not need to be an engineer, but you must be genuinely curious about AI tools, comfortable applying them to work, and thoughtful about where AI adds rigor versus where human judgment must lead.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive FP&A or strategic finance experience, ideally at a high-growth startup or technology company (the organization values the caliber of work more than the exact number of years)
  • Exceptional financial modeling skills, including the ability to build complex, accurate, and usable models
  • Demonstrated use of AI in your work, including applying AI tools to forecasting, analysis, automation, or reporting—or a clear track record of adopting new technology to work smarter
  • Strong grasp of GAAP and the three financial statements, including how they connect
  • Proven ability to analyze financial data, identify signal, and communicate findings clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with judgment to tailor messaging to the audience (from analysts to senior executives)
  • Experience with financial planning and reporting software; comfort with SQL or BI tools is a plus
  • Proactive, ownership-driven mindset—comfortable being the single person accountable for FP&A without a playbook
  • Ability to move fast, manage competing priorities, and stay accurate under pressure
  • Collaborative approach and ability to build trust across the organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in enterprise SaaS, supply chain, or the grocery/retail space

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary band in U.S.: $160,000-$220,000
  • Meaningful early-stage equity
  • Benefits package includes:
    • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your family, with the majority of premiums covered
    • Dedicated mental health support and counseling services
    • 401(k) program with a generous company match
    • Home office stipend and flexible workspace access
    • Annual professional development budget
    • Monthly stipends for wellness/lifestyle and telecommunications
    • Flexible paid time off

Location

  • Remote-first and flexible: work from anywhere in the U.S.
  • Full-time U.S. employees are eligible for these benefits.
  • Employees must reside in one of the following states: AL, AR, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, KY, MA, MI, MT, MO, NV, NJ, NY, NC, OR, PA, TX, WA, UT, VA, WI
