Accountant

Overview

This position supports one client’s portfolio of multiple properties with numerous tenants. Responsibilities include assisting with the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements, accurate application of cash receipts and accounts payable, and timely remittance of critical payments such as utilities, taxes, and mortgages. The role requires thorough knowledge of commercial leases and Yardi software, along with the ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines for multiple properties. Collaboration with multiple property managers and other personnel is essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly client reporting, including accrual basis financial statements, variance explanations, and other supplemental information as required
• Provide management with supporting documentation for management statements
• Prepare and review bank reconciliation reports
• Manage the recording of new and amendments to existing tenant leases
• Assist in commercial tenant billing
• Complete month-end close for cash management and accrued expenses accounting
• Perform analysis of balance sheet accounts
• Prepare monthly workpapers
• Assist with monthly review of financial statements and year-end audit (as needed)
• Perform balance sheet and other analyses and create ad hoc reports as requested by management
• Assist with annual operating expense reconciliations/estimates
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business related
• 2–3 years accounting experience in property management; residential experience preferred but not required
• Advanced Excel knowledge
• Thorough knowledge of commercial leases
• Yardi software knowledge preferred

• Residential property management experience

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation for the position: $55,355.40 - $65,124.00
• Benefits may include health, vision, and dental insurance; flexible spending accounts; health savings accounts; retirement savings plans; life and disability insurance; and paid and unpaid time away from work.
• Pay may vary based on eligibility factors such as geographic location, date of hire, total hours worked, job type, business line, and applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
• The employer will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
