Bookkeeper

Overview

This role involves independently managing bookkeeping and financial reporting for 10–20 small business clients, primarily in the construction and home services industries. The position offers flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the United States or from an office in Battle Ground, Washington.

Responsibilities

• Manage bookkeeping and financial records for 10–20 small business clients independently
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger transactions, and account reconciliations
• Process payroll from start to finish, including multi-state payroll management
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, reports, and excise tax returns
• Perform job costing, expense analysis, budgeting, and cash flow forecasting
• Track subcontractor payments and intercompany transactions
• Conduct regular meetings with clients to review financial results, address questions, and provide guidance
• Assist with business insurance reviews, license renewals, and compliance requirements
• Collaborate with tax professionals and team members to ensure accurate reporting and high-quality client service

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional bookkeeping or accounting experience
• At least 2 years of managing bookkeeping or accounting for multiple clients
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online accounting software
• Experience processing payroll from start to finish, including multi-state payroll
• Strong understanding of accounting principles including debits/credits, AR, AP, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Ability to independently manage multiple accounts, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and organizational abilities
• Effective communication skills for client interactions
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Dependable, self-motivated team player committed to accuracy and confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with construction accounting, job costing, and business tax reporting
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive starting pay of $31.00 - $35.00+ per hour, based on experience
